Looking to get a multi, I was forced to sell my Harley V-rod a couple of years ago and really want to get back in the saddle.... money is still tight so I am in need of some guidence, Obvously the new 1200 is out for me due to the price, so a used bike is realistic... is it worth the extra cash to get a later model 1100 or 1100s over the much less expensive and older 1000 models? I am the sort of guy who always wants better (this is not a good thing) So I worry that I will be disapointed with the cheaper option and end up spending more to make it cooler.

Well I ran a 1000 to death and put a 1100 motor in it after 121000 miles. I can tell you the 1100 is way more fun and seems to be more reliable as far as valves go. Even though I miss the dry clutch in the 1k I've grow to like the quiet wet as well. My son has the S model and that too is the best option. So if you just have to have a Adventurous Duc then I would go for any 07 thru 09 back in black. I'm gonna say it now, you are in for a big surprise my friend. The difference between a big ole heavy reliable cruiser and this lite finicky little Italian BITCH is like the difference in riding Pa's plow horse to church and fast Freddie's race horse to the ho-down! It'll open up a whole new world for you!
Happy hunting Columbus....seek that new world.
Breaking the bonds of Hardleys.....awesome!!!

I really like my Multi, its a 2005 1000s DS. I used to have a V-rod, and the Multi is by far a better "all-around" ride. More capable and very quick and definitely handles better than the v-rod in the canyons.

I bought mine used so it already had a full "termi" set-up. I added a few SA parts. But in the end I really like it.

Thanks for the "colorful" info.. much apreciated lol, but now I have a concern about the expanding gas tank I just learned about. how serious is this? I know we do have some ethanol enriched fuel here on the island of Rhodes.

If you consciously avoid Ethanol "Enriched" fuel you should be just fine, like the rest of the world except USA and some of Canada where its use has been mandated. That said, even here in the "Protection Paradise" (aka USA) you can now find rogue service stations offering 91 octane "ethanol-free" gas for a 20% premium. This somewhat recent development is in market response to the Off-Highway ATV and power boating consumers who have demanded E-Free loud enough to get it allowed where "logical".

Just watch the writing on the gas pumps for any indication of Ethanol and if pressed use Ethanol "Enriched" fuel during trips where the contents of the Multistrada's tank will be burned in short order and not left to sit in the tank for weeks or months.

my 2 Ti washers worth.
