Hello all I'm new to the forum. I am looking for some advice on whether i should purchase the motorcycle or not.
It is a 06 MTS1000S with just under 30,000 miles. Dealership told me that the last 12,000 mile interval service was done at 24,000 miles. The dealership also seems to be taking care of the bike before selling it to me, they are replacing the rear tire because they found a screw in it and they are fixing the ends of the handlebars because the right side was missing a cap.
I do intend on using the motorcycle for commuting and I am ready for the expensive maintenance every 12,000 miles.
The dealership is asking $5900, does anyone have any input? Thanks in advance.

I'd say that's a bit steep...
I have a 06 1000ds I got in march and paid £3200, which, depending on your day to transfer cash is $4,998.64. The bike was clean, no meddling with anything other then the rear break, which at the time was locking on, and had 16, 000 miles on it. Also they delivered it 100 miles for only £100....30, 000 and almost $2000 more seems a bit steep to me.
Also, run from the dealership as soon as you can....independent guys are more thorough, don't forget to do stuff, like bleed your breaks, and are way cheeper! -imho....and in my experience.
Good luck!
T

$5900 does seem a bit high. What accessories does the bike have? Hard bags, exhaust, comfort seat, etc.? Something closer to $5000 would be reasonable for a well outfitted bike, less for a bone stock bike.

Also, there are minor services required in between the 12,000 mile major service. If the bike has 30K miles and hasn't been touched since the 24,000 mile major service, I would ask that the standard 6,000 mile service, which includes a valve check/adjust, be performed.

PRICE is a little high , now if it were a Black one which are a little faster than the red ones, it might just justify an extra $1000 Think Mr. Green

Offer $5000 and see were that takes you.

Thanks for the advice. I'll be heading to the dealership in a couple hours. I'll try to get it down to around $5000. The bike only comes with the hard case mounted behind the seat and no other modifications.
