Hi All,
First post on the forum and im afraid its not all positive. I am just about to receive delivery of my new 2012 Multistrada after a lengthy period of waiting due to import laws/red tape here in Thailand. Alas the wait is over and I should be riding my new steed shortly, very excited. However I have been informed that the touring model I purchased back in February does NOT come fitted with panniers as standard!!! Is this not why it is called the "Touring" model? pretty much defeats the purpose of calling it a touring bike if it doesn't come with them fitted. Every website I go to indicates the panniers are standard equipment on the "T" model.
Is this normal practice from Ducati dealerships? Is the dealer at it trying to gain a few extra buck, alot of extra bucks in this case. A quick search reveals the panniers would cost in the region of $1,200
Thanks in advance for any advise given
Rgds

Have you seen your new Multistrada yet? If it has a Carbon Fiber "Beak" and cam belt covers but has no center stand then it is an "S" Sport and not a "T" Touring model.
Maybe the dealer got the order mixed up or something like that and they are just trying to paint a pretty face on it.

Hi,
Its definitely the Touring model as it has a center stand and brush guards. My importer questioned the dealer where they were and he stated that they now offer the "T" model with panniers but when I bought the bike back in February they were an optional extra!!!
Now this is an official Ducati dealership should they not be operating within guidelines from Ducati or something. |

According to the website:
Touring edition:
Characterised by the ABS and DES by Öhlins systems, the 'S' version Touring edition focuses on comfort and cargo for long-distance travel with handy heated grips, 57 litres of stylish side luggage and a centre stand for practicality.
Or you can try to download the owner manual. In the manual they talk about panniers and centre stand. |

Sounds like your dealer is taking liberties and is trying to extract more cash.
If your bike has a plastic (not carbon) nose, the centre stand and the heated grips it is certainly a Touring and will have left the factory with the panniers.
I would have a word with the local importer and also with Bologna - use the contact us on the main Ducati.com here:

I really think the Touring model has come with panniers as standard from the very beginning all over the world.
Someone is not being honest with you. |

Only the "base model" comes with out panniers.
Unless it's a pikes peak... |

I really hate to hear about these kinds of things. You're being taken advantage of because you're out of the country. Contact Ducati. |

I can't help it! I LOVE resurrecting old threads. It's annoying though, I know, but it's nice to hear from you again my friend. |
