If the price is right I'd buy it in a second.
Just replace the. Cam belts, oil, brake and clutch fluid ('tyres too if you are paranoid) and fix the cosmetics.

Make sure to check the engine mount areas on the engine and make sure no cracks in the case from the fall.
Still repairable. But a lot bigger can of worms.

Ok you're not saying how much you can buy it for, but if 1k in more repairs gets you another bike, why take on this project, the engine will be fine with cylinders being nikasil
And a fresh set of belts, oil, filter, drain fuel, refill with non ethanol, check to see if rear panels have gull winged-an indication that tank has expanded.

If I were in your delightful dilemma I would wait till a S model turns up
The quality suspension is worth getting first up.

Good luck with your hunt, keep us updated😉

This is an S model.

She is asking $3K for the bike as is...I am considering offering a max of $2500 figuring it is going to take another $2000 to put the bike right. At $4500 I think I will have done well. I'm seeing other bikes in the $5500-$6500+ range...but most of those bikes also have bags and/or top cases and aftermarket exhausts, other goodies. If I were to add those things I would be in that same ballpark.

Well, I'm now the owner of a '07 1100 S with 9600 miles and some busted plastic. Ended up giving $2250 for the bike. Will pick it up this evening. Either the best or worse purchase I've ever made Laughing . Time and $$ to get right will tell.
Wish me luck!

Sounds like a great runner. Get the belts, oil, fluids for brakes and clutch, check the chain and maybe tires attended to and ride it like you stole it ('cuz U did!) for the rest of the season. Make sure the forks aren't leaking.

The cosmetics can wait until winter.
