Hi Guys,

I am on the market for a 1200S (Tried it, loved it to bits )
However, my budget took a bit of a hit, when i got announced some wonderful news for me and my wife Smile Very Happy Very Happy

I had kind of given up the idea of owning a 1200S due to my limited budget at the moment.
However, after looking (like everyday) on the website of my Ducati dealer in the area, i noticed an angel
https://www.ducatizaltbommel.nl/occasions/ducati-multistrada-1200-s-23572677/
(Sorry website is in dutch )

It has the options i am looking for, i do like the color, and according to the description, was sold new at that same dealership and always maintained there.
But here comes the questionable point . The bike has now 70000 Km (43000Miles)
For the price, i can afford it right away, and it comes with 6 month warranty.

But, should I?

Thanks for your input !

Hi Fryn

The price seems quiet high to me for this amount of km, but I have to admit:
The bike is well equiped, and 6month of guarantee ... this is quiet well.
And all Multis are good for more then 100k Miles.

And 2 other points I can't see in the offer, but are rather important:
- Does the bike have the Oehlins-suspension upgrade (it is a dedicated ECU for the active Oehlins suspension)?
- Does the bike has the original mapping or got another mapping instead (Rexxer, DynoJet etc.pp)?

If those two are incl. as well, then this is a very good deal.
If not, this is still a good deal.
But the those two items are worth about 1200 EUR.

Finally:
I'm always surprised how expensive bikes are in the European Countries, except Switzerland.
In Switzerland you get a similar equiped Multistrada, same age, for 6k, but with HALF of the mileage.
And not from private, no, from a dealer and guarantee as well.

Kind regards

Sam

Hi,

Thank you for your reply.
I will check with the dealer this saturday for the two points your mentioned above.

Regarding the price, i also found it overprice, but here in the Netherlands (I am not sure for the rest of europe) new vehicule have a taxes which is 20% of the new price of the vehicule.
This taxe even though is only for purchase of brand new vehicule, somehow it's impacting the second hand market as well. So in general bikes and cars here are 20% more expensive than my home country in France.

I will nonetheless ask the dealer for a discount, i doubt the interest for this bike is high regarding the mileage. Maybe they can discount the bike a little bit, or offer a set of new tires. I'll see what i can do.

For me, buying this bike isn't in the goal of re selling it in one year. I am looking for something good to keep until it doesn't work anymore.

Good choice, well done.
AND: As it is not a DVT ... you'll be happy.

ENJOY!

Questions:
Has the mapping been modified?
And has the Oehlins upgrade been done?

And, just to consider:
It's worth to plan a suspension maintenance, if not yet done.

Kind regards

Sam
