I am looking at buying a used Multistrada but the current owner doesn't have the Code Card. Reading through some topics on this forum it would appear that you can't get the code card details from anywhere and need to buy a new ECU/lock set etc.
1) Is this correct?
2) In reality, has anyone actually used their code card at any time, if not then I can't see this being an issue?
Thanks |

The red key is more important than the card. The card gives you a code to override the immobiliser (I think). The red key is required to make duplicate keys work with the ecu and dash. |

The way I see it:
red key = cash
about $1200 or so
should you ever find yourself in need of it. |

what about upgrading the ecu to the dp one? didn't someone on here say you had the option of "keying" the dp ecu and if you left it unkeyed, you wouldn't need the red key anymore? |

tkjacobs,
I noticed you are in Oak Ridge, NC. Which dealer are you using? You are like me, kinda far away from any of the NC Duc dealerships. |

True the red key is more important but if you don't have the card with the immobilzer numbers what problems can it create and is there a way to get a new card. In case there is any doubt I am in the same boat. I have the red key but not the card. The dealer who sold me the bike said he would be collecting it from the previous owner in the next few days. Unfortunatley a year later it hasn't turned up! |
