I tried searching, but I did not see much on this question.

Most of my riding has been on bikes with a wet clutch. The exception was my BMW, and I really disliked the dry clutch on it. I tend to use the friction zone a good bit when I am in stop and go traffic, and the smell using the dry clutch really bothered me.

For any of you who have ridden several MTS's with both a wet and a dry clutch, can you comment on comparison between the two?

As I search for my used MTS, if their significant advantage to a wet clutch to limit my search?

OK - no response on the original question, so I'll try another approach.

What is a reasonable maintenance interval for the MTS drt clutch (spring life, plate life, etc).

Put 13,000 on the orig. clutch using a speedy moto pressure plate and S.S. springs with no issues at all. Changed it to a Yo Yo dyne 48t slipper package and have put 4,000 on it so far with no issues

I have a 2005 'S'. I test rode a 2007 1100 S with the wet clutch.
I didn't notice any difference at all.
I wasn't looking for differences either- but it didn't show up in a ride to me.

That said, I rarely ride in town where I use the clutch a lot (except for shifting) - so I may not notice something others would deem to be a big deal.

My dry clutch has about 15,500 miles on it. It's fairly loud now as the tolerances are pretty far out, but it works well.

Difference between the clutches is the dry has a heavier lever pull, and is loud (even with the stock cover on). If you run with the cover on you'll have to take it off every 3,000 miles or so and blow the clutch out or it'll make groaning noises. I've also noticed that the dry clutch tends to get a little grabby in stop and go traffic...not a huge deal though, but noticeable.

I like the sound and look of dry clutches on bikes I ride on occasion...but for an every day ride I prefer wet clutches. I recently did the quieting mod to my dry clutch though and like it better that way...many will say I'm crazy for doing it though!

Yeah, having had a couple ducs with each, there's not too much difference (outside of noise) until you get some mile on them. The wet clutches remain quite smooth while the dry can get a bit finnicky. I don't think there's enough difference to base buying a bike on unless you're REALLY into the open cover/bling side of the dry.
