I'm a little suspicous about the ad . He listed some upgrades , a corbin seat and it's pretty obvious it is a sargent. Also the bike has black stock looking rims and i think the 03's had silver. The price seems pretty low $5500 for only 5300 miles. Does the 03 have the immobilizer and if so is it 1 red and 2 black keyes?thanks for the help Hog. |

I would certainly check the bike out carefully. Look for service receipts/records.
Be especially careful to see if it has been totaled or something.
It can certainly be repaired again as good as new (with new parts) but you want to know about it.
Yeah, up until the '05 'S' model, I believe all came with silver wheels.

Confirming that the original Multistrada came with three keys - one red, two black. |

From past experiences - go with your gut! I thought that I found a killer deal on a low mileage well taken cared of 748 Ducati.
Something in the sellers add did not add up, the description vs. the actual photos – after asking the seller many questions, I decided to move on. Found out later that the sellers add was bogus – a freaking scam!
Do your research, read, research, and read some more – check in with your local dealer and post up on these message boards. Also, if something is bothering you, move on! |

The seller never replied to me so i think i scared him away. Thank you everyone who replied with some very good advice. I will keep looking although i am leaning towards the dark side ......... a 2001 ST2. Multies are still few and far between my price range unless i sell my monster |

I had two '99 ST2 bikes.
I really liked them.
But I like the Multi better!
I preferred the ST over around 80mph.

just curious , what did you like better about the multi vs. the st2? I really like my 2000 monster 900s except it's just not as confortable on the freeway and highways leading to the twisties with my older back . |

At lower speeds, especially 2-up, I much prefer the Multi. It is a LOT more comfortable just putting along when asked to.
Up to around 80-85mph I liked the seating/handling of the Multi better. It is lighter and more responsive- the suspension on the 'S' is noticably better (at least for me). Not that the ST2's of the '99 vintage was bad.
At higher speeds (over around 85) I liked the ST2 better. The seating position came into its own and the lower bike with shorter travel doesn't seem to move around as much.
I don't spend much time over 85mph and the Multi is just more plain fun for me.
I think a lot more versatile bike.
