Been looking for a 620 thats not too far (Pa.). Current bikes: 05 BMW 1200 RT and Husky TE 310. Need something in the middle for bad roads and worse.

IMHO opinion, the 620 is a great bike. The suspension can do with some upgrading, but on the whole it's brilliant.

I have had a MTS620 for about a year and a half now and have put almost 9000 trouble free miles (except for a low beam bulb that just burnt out) on it in that time. It is now at almost 21,000 total miles and runs perfectly with no measurable oil consumption in the 3K change intervals.

I have been on every type of roads surface available in my area including lots of gravel and abandoned 2-track "farm roads" that I would not/could not take my 4x4 Jeep on without scratching up the body. Do avoid mud though. Not a good thing with 17 inch street tires. For everything but mud, the 620 just purrs along and returns about 55 mpg in the warm months while doing so.

As Collin stated it "can" use some suspension improvements. I would very much second that. The suspension is by far the poorest performing area on an otherwise great bike. If you get one, I would shop for takeoff forks and a shock from a MTS1x00 as this will be by far the biggest improvement you can possibly do to the MTS 620.

I have not heard of any major weaknesses from a reliability standpoint of the 620. It sounds like the engine is very reliable as are most of the other components. One common thread I read about on the older Multistradas is to keep the gauges dry as many folks have reported issues with the gauge cluster after prolonged exposure to rain, or with pressure washing, which in general is not good for any bike.

Good luck with your shopping I think you will find the MTS 620 is a great bike for a bargain price.
