I hate to say it but all you need is the original center stand and a china connection.
And right ther is a big part of whats wrong in the U.S.
As a small manufacturer, I take comments like that as an insult.
Like I said... I hate to say it. The one thing you have going for you is good quality control, lower shipping costs and no language barrier. In the 70s it was Japan, in the 80s it was Taiwan, now it is China. As each country lifted itself out of poverty it eliminated its ability to cheaply produce things. We need to find the things we can compete in the world market with here in the US. We dominate in software and movies but you see how fast they are ripped off by foreign countries like China and others.

Buggie whip manufactureers were insulted by the horseless carriage. Don't be insulted build something people want to pay for and become part of the hated 1%!

Just another observation since we got on the topic of Made in USA vs China somehow.

A few weeks ago my bike was due for its first oil change, OK no big deal, but the Service Wrench is a bit annoying and needs to be reset. So I go over to the Ducatidiag site, down load the software and search ebay for the $20 worth of cable connectors to talk to the bike.

I thought this was a no-brainer, and ordered the cables from the USA thinking this would be the fastest........only to find out they will not ship out side of the USA - OK try another - No go again - OK try another - No go again.......what the hell is up - are these cables top secret stuff that cannot go outside the USA?

So, I go back to Ducatidiag forum and find a reference to a Hong Kong dealer that sells them and here is what really surprised me............they were less money they got here in 1 week(instead of the usual 2 weeks when I order from the US) and they worked like a charm!

The speed of the postal delivery really amazed me, cause I live half way between anywhere and nowhere.

Let me see Think ....less money, faster delivery....and they work.......I think I know where I am going next time.

None that I am aware of..................I am still looking for a center stand on ebay or here. No luck so far.

.............but I am getting faster at lubing the chain on the side stand......rolling it forward 6 inches at a time.

To clean the chain thou I have to lift up the back end.....which can only be done at home and not on the road.

Pick Up a pit bull single sided rear stand. They work great and are not that much money. They work great for cleaning the chain.

They are so hard to pack for the road! Stubborn

I welded up a "pit bull look-a-like" for home, but I like hanging it from a wench I rigged up better........................neither of these options however are portable!

If the projects gone off the boil I may look into getting an engineering friend to make one up but I'd need an original for him to copy... sorry I mean pay homeage to (like the chinese do)!

How much do the original ones retail for in the UK?

How much demand is there for them? I'm probably going to remove the one from my 1000DS before I sell it. I would consider having some made as they are NLA from main dealers.
What's my used one worth guys?

I have one of these. Small enough to travel with. Not a center stand but works for chain lubing.

Do a search for lift and lube. they work fine on the road and fold up to about the size of a case for glasses. It will get the rear off the ground to clean and lube the chain. I think they are around 40 bucks. I think their website is liftlube.com.

Count me in for a center-stand for a 2006 620, when manufacturing begins.

I have a question for those who actually used original centre stand when you put bike on the stand is it resting on the front or rear wheel ??

I know it sound doll but I couldn't find any proper picture showing the bike on the stand.

I'm working on redesigning the mounting brackets for the centre stand and wondering what effect on the bike will have moving the pivot for the stand about inch or two forward ?

I am pretty sure that any bike with a center stand is configured so that the front wheel is grounded when up on the center stand.

The main idea for the center stand is to get the rear wheel off the ground for repairs/maintenance. Once the back wheel is off the ground it is pretty easy to put weight on the rear end and raise the front wheel if repairs are needed there, but the reverse is not quite as easy.

No, do not move the mounting point forward.......... the rear wheel needs to be off the ground when on the center stand.
