I know it sound doll but I couldn't find any proper picture showing the bike on the stand.
I'm working on redesigning the mounting brackets for the centre stand and wondering what effect on the bike will have moving the pivot for the stand about inch or two forward ?
I am pretty sure that any bike with a center stand is configured so that the front wheel is grounded when up on the center stand.
The main idea for the center stand is to get the rear wheel off the ground for repairs/maintenance. Once the back wheel is off the ground it is pretty easy to put weight on the rear end and raise the front wheel if repairs are needed there, but the reverse is not quite as easy.
No, do not move the mounting point forward.......... the rear wheel needs to be off the ground when on the center stand.
that I was worried about, the thing is to keep the pivot in the same place there is not much play with the mounting brackets
never easy well I try another approach
cheers |

I am out of the elusive search for a center stand!
I had an ebay alert establish for some time for an 1100 centerstand....and low and behold one popped up today at RubberSideUp.
Complete with all parts for $229.
Good luck to everyone else still searching. |

there is no cost effective way to manufacture the exactly the same stand mounting brackets, I have been talking to number of different manufactured and fabricators about this and in every case is just not worth it
So I came up with my own idea and I redesign the stand mounting brackets .
they not ready yet for road use as I just pick them up and need to mount them to the bike than set the angle right and weld together.
the idea was to use two very easy to make speared parts and joint them in to one. there is enough clearance for the brackets to fit with the standard exhaust system.
This is a very early stage of the project and size of the pin and L shape brackets will be reduced while welded together
the only sacrifice was to get rid of the cat mounting flexible hinge as this is used for the stand pivot
that all I have for now but as soon weather improves I will start working on it and hope to have a working stand very soon.
for now a few pictures of the prototype stand and mounts
feel free co comment on the idea

Very nice & I'm looking forward to seeing how that works out. Are you thinking of having a few dozen made up? |

I got excited to early about this whole project
I have some time this afternoon so I went to the garage to fit my prototype stand. And straight away few problems,
as the stand it self was an exact copy of the original one is not wide enough and is caching on the foot peg brackets ( see photo) and because pivot is a bit higher is not deep enough to fold right in to the horizontal position
there is a still issue of making the stand being secure when open and close + spring mount
so no time to waste and back to the drawing board

Since I have never actually seen a Ducati centerstand can anyone post pictures of the actual stand and mounts that Ducati sold? very mush appreciated. Gregski, thanks very much for your efforts. I am confident that there is a solution. |

I managed to find this center stand late last fall and was intending to mount it right after I got back from a backroads trip in BC on BMWF650Dakar................only fate had a different plan for me.
I managed to break/dislocate my ankle/leg and spent Sept/Oct/Nov out of action. I just had the surgery to remove my screws and plate and I am once again looking forward to getting on my bikes.........and the first order of business will be mounting this center stand.
....................so before I mount it if anyone needs any specific measurements or photos, just request exactly what you need and I will make them.
The rest of the center stand photos I have are here:

........and if you want to see what a stapled ankle looks like.....peak here:

Thanks Oceanmt... If possible can you show me a couple pictures of just the mounting brackets? I have no interest in manufacturing these for sale, I just want a centerstand for my bike. I have lots of experience manufacturing and engineering. |
