.....if you change you mind, let me know. |

After browsing the different forums on this site it appears it would be unwise to do so............. |

Don't know if they would help, but you might contact air tech:
http://www.airtech-streamlining.com/
They make a wide variety of fairings/windscreens.
No connection with them- it just popped into my head.
Good luck. |

Thanks for the link. I didn't find anything on the site that would work however. I'm going to try to repair the DP shield. It just has stress fractures around the mounting points. I have the stock shield assembly if that doesn't work.

My recommendation is Zero Gravity as direct fit replacement and slight upgrade. Smoked colors, progressively larger. CalSci would be a great option for further size and coverage upgrades. There are others, but these are most cost effective and aesthetically / functionally correct.
I have the ZG touring light smoke color. $70.00, perfect fitment and easy to do. Tape the end of your allen key so as not to "turn and scratch!"

Yes, the ZG touring is my backup plan. However, repairs on the DP have gone well so it looks like I'll be able to enjoy it for awhile yet. Thanks for the input. |

The cracks were too numerous to drill holes at the end of each one so I roughed up the back surface with fine sandpaper and applied IPS Weld-On #16 clear thickened acrylic sheet cement in a heavy bead over each crack. After allowing it to dry overnight I re-painted the areas I had worked on. It's not that pretty on the back surface but it doesn't show so who cares. Of course, all the cracks still appear on the front. I'm just trying to keep them from expanding and finally failing structurally. Time will tell if it holds up. I did a 200 mile loop yesterday and checked the major crack that reaches the shield edge and it seems sound. |
