I found a super clean bike with new gas tank and valve guides updated. Has 3K miles, Just Serviced, Red, in perfect condition. Is $5,000 a fair price on this bike and anything else I need to be aware of as a 1st time Duc owner? |

Well, I thought I found a good bike but the ran the VIN when I met the Seller and it is an '04 model made in late '03. He would not budge off of the $5k and said he had another buyer waiting. Said he got mixed up when he ran the ad as an '06 http://nashville.craigslist.org/bar/4414493742.html
After talking to the Ducati mechanic I can clearly see that this is an "04 from the twin head pipes and Gray wheels. Oh well, anyone know of a nice bike for sale near Nashville, TN? |

Well, the seller claimed those things have been done but he also listed it as an '06 model. There was only one warranty service record in the system for the bike and it was for a gas line issue right after it was purchased. The Ducati rep said normal service work would not show up in the system. Not sure how I can verify the tank or valve guides and not sure I can trust the seller. |

It could be an honest mistake on the year - or could be a dishonest seller.
I guess if there was paperwork to back up the tank and valve guides it would be good, otherwise probably better to wait for one with docs.

Yeah, I agree. He was in a hurry and did not share any paperwork. Might have been an honest mistake but do not like to be pressured into a quick decision. |
