Hi Folks
I enjoyed my 1000DS but am thinking of buying a 1200 version from the last five years. Is there much to worry about on the 2011 and more recent versions? I've read road tests extolling the latest electronic xyz gadgets but am wary about whether they are reliable....
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated thanks and enjoy your ride. |

Get a '12.
It was the third MY for the WC multi, with no basic changes from the original 2010 model. All of the bugs and problems had been worked out by that third year. My '12 has been flawless (with the exception of a recent heated grip failure), completely different from my old '10.
You may run into all of the new teething problems with '13s thru'16s, as one can see these days from the forums.

And many voice concerns about the electronics, but there has been so few with issues we cannot even remember them. |

+1
The only electrical gremlins I've had was a short in the wiring loom of my 2010 ABS, (a unique happening I think), and on my 2013 Skyhook failed heated grips and a dodgy side-stand switch. None of it anything to do with the high-tech electrickery. BTW, apart from Skyhook from 2013 there were several worthwhile improvements including a change to the injector alignment which gave a smoother engine with better fuel consumption. |

Thank you for your replies, appreciate them.
Am still scouring the ads for 2nd hand but am now wondering about a brand new basic 2015 Multi with the Touring pack for a very attractive price at the local dealer. Does anyone have any comments about their reliability please with the variable valve timing etc. They seem to be identical to the 2016 model over here in Australia.
I assume the standard non skyhook suspension is still very comfortable and good for the twisties?.....
It is such a great time to looking for bikes, there is so much choice! |
