In looking at a showroom 620 I could find no evidence whatsoever of dielectric grease on any of the electrical connectors. I've also heard some disturbing stories about instrument clusters. So... how are these bikes in the rain. I don't like riding like that,,, but it happens and the last thing I want is...
Also, have no choice but to leave the bike outside, with a cover. how do they hold up to that? Are the frames painted or powder coated?
Rust anywhere as an issue?

I just rode my Multi 1000S for 4 straight hours in pouring rain last Friday. I was on my
way to an Antique Motorcycle Club of America swap meet, and was forced to make time
on the super-slab. Although it is never "fun" to travel that way by bike, I found that by
utilizing the passenger foot pegs and leaning forward onto my tank bag, the wind off of
my fairing kept my helmet shield clear......despite the 18-wheeler's best attempt to
blind me in spray. Otherwise, the Multi handled the deluge with poise; no problem
with traction, braking, handling, or electrical gremlins! The instrument cluster remained
clear and completely water-tight.

I am also forced to keep my bike outside with a cover. Make sure to get one that is
ventilated. I keep on top of the various hardware bits with an old toothbrush and
S100 brand anti-corrosion spray. I must say that the chain needs regular attention,
so remember to clean and lubricate it frequently.

Not exactly sure how the frames are done....but they are very hearty and maintain
a clean finish easily.

Hope this helps you with your decision. It's good to get soaked occasionally, it reminds you that you are out of the cage and living the good life !

Yeah, you gotta look after things no matter what the price/make/style. I'm used to chain maint and the toothbrush thing... I pretend its a 'Zen' thing.

The frames are painted not powder coated.

I live in Scotland and it ranes every day, the cluster does steam up, replaced twice, the bike engine paint hase come off in parts, it is a ducati and is not built for wet contries but it is still a great bike. The japs make the best bikes but i like my duc. other faults . heavy clutch ( fit larger slave cylinder) old ones had hard seats, low screen and mirrors not wide enough.

I just rode the last 2 days back and forth between Miami and Ft.Lauderdale in the rain. I got soked but the bike was fine.
I work on a yacht and keep my bike outside with a Dowco cover. It's been living like this for a year now and still looks like new when I clean her all up.
This is the most fun bike I ever had, just love it. Get one.
Or if ya want I might sell you mine for say..... $25,000 Firm. I know it sounds a bit high, but it is a legend.

Being an expat from England I love riding in rain. My Canadian mates think I'm mad but as one wise bloke once said "there's no such thing as bad weather just the wrong type of clothing".
No problems with the MTS due to wet weather riding. However if I look closely its begining to grow gills....
