Re: Any one tried the BMW R1150GS and Ducati Multistrada ?
And to PeeBee, why did you get the KTM if the its a total different bike than the MTS ? They all fullfill the need for an allround bike. In my personal opinion the bike that comes closest to this is the GS650Dakar, reliable Rotax engine, low fuel consumption, enough power even for highways ...

Re: Any one tried the BMW R1150GS and Ducati Multistrada ?
Why compare a MTS to a GS to a KTM? Because they have an upright seating position?
I've test driven the GS many many times (never bought one, though), owned the MTS and have a KTM 950S currently. These are three very different animals, and they each fall into their own category. Most probably they ...

Re: dirty ability of the MS
I've got this thing like a bad itch that will not go away, I'd like a MS!
Time to trade up maybe..
If MultiStrada is not enough, you should maybe test ride the WhatStrada? (KTM 950). It's a better street performer than the Multi is on dirt...
Oh and if you insist on taking a Multi to gravel on ...

Re: long distance supermoto
About the Multistrada:
Is the Multistrada a robust and reliable bike (suitable for everyday use)?
Is the Multistrada easy to clean and maintain? Does the bike rust?
What (in your opinion) is the best thing about the Multistrada? and what is the worst?
Indy,
I've owned a MTS for 12 weeks, after ...
Re: vibration
Coming from a KTM Duke II, I thought the MTS had an electric engine! It has a very good natural balance: balance that wasn't made with counter balancer shafts etc. A very nice advantage of a 90 degrees V-twin.
I have a 75 degrees V-twin KTM 950 now, and it needs a balancer shaft allright, because ...

Re: Any one tried the BMW R1150GS and Ducati Multistrada ?
ordering handguards from a KTM dealer
If these are the 950 handguards: it has a conical handlebar, so at the point where you attach the guard to the handlebar, it will be thicker than the non-conical Duc handlebar. As far as I know, it's regular Acerbis, so maybe they have a clamp for regular ...

Re: Any one tried the BMW R1150GS and Ducati Multistrada ?
I was in my local bike dealer on Saturday and in between the Aprilias, MV Agustas and the Yamahas was one of the ugliest bikes I have ever seen - it was a KTM adv 950
Now that's a clear standpoint! Thank God we do not all share the same taste. :)
Had a lot of positive reactions to the ADV ...

Re: Any one tried the BMW R1150GS and Ducati Multistrada ?
PeeBee,
Reading the bike magazine arcticles/reviews I believe my legs aren't long enough to ride a KTM Adv, My height is 1.75m, 0.74m inside leg/ inseam. Same reason why I haven't test ridden a Triumph Tiger, 5 seconds sitting on it was enough.
I can cope with the MTS and GS ok.

Re: Any one tried the BMW R1150GS and Ducati Multistrada ?
I could sum up :
German - steady, dependable
Italian - way more SEXY :P :P :P
Dunno if I've mentioned this before, but: Shouldn't you take an Adventure 950 into consideration? I test drove the GS multiple times, had the Multi for 3 months, and I'm driving the ADV right now. This bike was made ...

me its the duke regards slider:
Always thought a Duke is an unbeatable twisties eater from KTM. :?
Anyway: try this test on a MTS and a GS: switch it off, sit on the bike and try to manoever it backward, like moving out of a garage or parking spot. I had to do this by accident when ...

Re: Multistrada handling/performance on track?
Peebee, actually the story was that Kixstart first had the bike setup higher then stock at the rear to get some extra groundclearance (because of the exhaustshield). But in that setup the bike was very very nervous to ride. Thats the reason they went back to factory setting and 'hanged of' a little ...

Re: Multistrada handling/performance on track?
In Holland we have a seriously off beat bike magazine (bit like the Top Gear people), called Kixstart. They tried the MTS last season on the Dutch Ducati clubraces. As you might know, The Dutch Ducati club annually hires the Grand Prix circuit of Assen, and thousands of people show up...
They had a ...
