Apart from the usual checks, look at:
Valve guides - Some early bikes had issues. Mine is on the list but runs like a dream!
Rear wheel bearings - Expensive so make sure there's no play wse.
Tank warpage - I'll let someone nearer to you talk about that ...

Yeah that'd work!
Fitted centre stands get in the way, add weight and look ugly. Usually I lube the chain manually but on tours I use the Scot-oiler. Now changing tyres is another matter!

As Keener says they've not been out long.
I see a few UK dealers selling demo bikes at a couple of thousand less than new. Maybe worth enquiring where you are?
Or of course you could just go mad modifying an old 1000SDS and have the best time of yer life!

I had a KTM SMT990 after 2 Multis 1000/1100 and then went back to a Multi 1000!
(Do a search on here for my review)
Deffo go for the S version as the Ohlins is superb. And if it's. a stock bike then I'd probably say go for the 1100 as they have a little more bhp/torque and a few niggles
sorted ...

The bags can be sold/swapped/changed - more important to get a decent straight and sorted bike at a fair price imho.

It's a 1000, the original and best Multi!

I've just had a dyno run today started with 89.7hp @ 7968rpm/10.9kgm@4904rpm and
ended up with 93.1hp@8418rpm/10.0kgm @ 6362rpm measured at the rear wheel.

If it's just a question of chain lubing you could consider fitting an automatic system such as the Scottoiler.
