Never having ridden a GS, I really can't say if the 1200 will scratch both the 1000 itch and the GS itch. The 1200 is quite different from the 1000/1100. I came from a 1000, went to a 1200 for about 6 months and am now back on an 1100 (with a 620 as a backup). Nothing against the 1200 whatsoever ...
