Re: Two Up Riding Comfort on 1100s

This is a very subjective topic. I think that even for a person who considers themselves adventurous by long-distance motorcycle trip standards, a 500 mile day on the 1st gen MTS while doable and bearable I don't believe could ever be described as comfortable. Your results may vary.

Re: WTB Multi 1100s

You should get in touch with list member Bearhunterdan. He's got a superbly beautiful low mileage '07 1100S for sale that I bet won't last long and he's probably not too far from you.
Here's the listing in the Marketplace forum:

Re: Looking for pre-purchase opinions/advice

Thanks for those tips. I will try to unplug and re-plug the main plug to the dash. I hope it could be something so simple but all the other functions of the dash were working, just the speedo crapped out. Would I get the error code 36 if it were something that simple - isn't the error code generated ...

Re: Looking for pre-purchase opinions/advice

The 100 mile ride home would have been perfect if the speedometer hadn't crapped out about 40 miles from home. Showing 0 mph when traveling at highway speeds. Error Code 36. Then got home to find no toolkit in the storage bin in the fairing. I'm pissed! It's too bad because the bike was a blast to ...

Re: Looking for pre-purchase opinions/advice

It's hard to say exactly but two things that were subtle yet simultaneously striking. During the test ride there were a couple of moments when I was thinking about where I wanted myself and the bike to be and without realizing I had put any noticeable input into the bar or weight on a peg, we were ...

Re: Looking for pre-purchase opinions/advice

Yup, if it were the S model, there would not be any discussion - done deal but alas, it's the standard model. On my way to the bank in 30 minutes. Cash is king!!!

Re: Looking for pre-purchase opinions/advice

Would allowing it to idle a bit, relatively indoors (open garage), let it get up to proper temps or would it just go back down once under way. The bike is at a suburban Milwaukee Duc dealership and I'm pretty sure the test ride will be very limited in scope. I doubt I will be able to put it through ...

Re: Looking for pre-purchase opinions/advice

Jeezus H Jon! Don't mince your words for crying out loud. No reason to tip-toe around how you really feel. If you don't write for a bike mag, you ought to. I know the truth lies somewhere in the middle of all that. I wouldn't really be interested in hanging out with either crowd, just not my thing ...

Re: Looking for pre-purchase opinions/advice

Here is my dilemma - There is also a fully loaded '98 R1100GS that I'd love to have. Have been wanting a bike with a little off-road capability for a long time. Parts are easily found for the big GS, the Multi well, is the opposite. The GS is remarkably only about $600 less expensive in the asking ...
