Snow, ice and salt?

I live in northern Ohio, and do not 'winterize' my bike - we usually get a few days that are clear enough to ride. I went down once on ice, and had one electrical problem related to corrosion. I was wondering if any current Multistrada owners knew how well fancy Italian electronics held up to ...

Re: MTS1200 or ST2/3/4

A rewrite of my original post, to get this back on topic, and avoid any possible confusion.

I started in on this forum thinking I'd eventually buy a MTS1200. Well, I am so excited about it I want to buy one before I have the money! So that got me thinking about a used ST4 which gets me a superbike ...

Re: MTS1200 or ST2/3/4

I did not say I won't consider an air-cooled Ducati because I feel they are underpowered. I specifically said this wasn't about performance, was a personal preference based on nontangibles. Being my money, I am welcome to that opinion, and I am certainly not the only one buying a Ducati with reasons ...

Re: MTS1200 or ST2/3/4

This forum is for the multistrada 1200 as well. People asked why I don't want an older multistrada. I assumed most people who could afford a bike in this price range were mature enough that I could answer honestly.

Re: MTS1200 or ST2/3/4

This was not meant to be an insult to anyone besides Pierre Terblanche (who also designed the ST3). I don't think many people on this forum think the "wet cat with a large forehead" is Ducati's best looking bike.

BTW - yes, I realize many of the ST bikes are not superbike engines. They are better ...

Re: MTS1200 or ST2/3/4

Maybe the comparison to a Ferrari compact car was unfair. I know this engine has a large following, and they are probably great bikes, but they just aren't interesting to me. For me, Ducati=really cool superbikes, and if I can't ride one, I can at least have the engine. If I just want the name, why ...

Re: MTS1200 or ST2/3/4

I decided I want a Ducati, since I am Italian and also a fan of their superbikes. The monsters, hypermotards and old multistradas are out because they have a boring (to me anyway) engine. It would be like if Ferrari put their name on a 1.2 liter v4 compact car - why buy it?

This will be an everyday ...

MTS1200 or ST2/3/4

I started in on this forum thinking I'd eventually buy a MTS1200. Well, I am so excited about it I want to buy one before I have the money! So that got me thinking about considering a used ST2, ST3 or ST4 which I could buy for well under half the price. I realize this are completely different bikes ...

Re: Total Control

By "get cover", I assume you mean insurance, and not something to keep off snow and rain. Here in the States, I haven't heard of anyone being denied insurance altogether, rates just go up.

Insurance for motorcycles is not too high for anything specific bike, but it is universally too high, and ...

Re: Total Control

I am looking at a 1200.

As far as "moving up", I am not going to another bike between the s50 and Multistrada. I may keep the s50 longer to get more experience or $$$, or I may buy something else entirely. My girlfriend doesn't like riding the s50. If she likes the Multistrada, I will buy one. If ...

Total Control

I am a new rider - less than 1 year experience, and ride a Suzuki s50 - a 805cc cruiser. I learned by taking an MSF course, and the same people who taught it offer a "Total Control" course. I want to upgrade my bike and my riding abilities, and probably will buy a Multistrada. Do you think I should ...

Re: Multistrada 1200S for new rider

**Edit** I just read the date on this post, so my advice doesn't apply, but it might be useful for others reading this forum.

Just wanted to share a different opinion, being a relatively new rider. I've never owned or ridden a Ducati, my only bike is a Suzuki s50 (50 inches = 805cc). I wanted a ...
