Which is why I think we need a Wiki section

Page updated, now also includes the 2008 model.

Re: Multistrada 1000 as first Bike?

I think the reason Rob mentioned the clutch because the 620 is fitted with a rather clever clutch assembly , but I've forgotten the exact name.

This clutch will force the plates together when power is applied. The other way, when you close the throttle, the grip on the plates is loosened, so it's a ...

Re: The Desmo Decision

... is this really that simple as long as you take your time and measure your shims and clearances properly?...
I think it is, though I've never done this myself. On my old 2 valve Duc you need to remove the camshaft in order to access all shims. On the 1000DS engine, just remove the valve covers ...

Re: buying ex-demo

There is a thread about running in the engine on this forum: Running in the engine . I myself did not hold back for the first 50 or so kilometers, since that's where most of the running in takes place, and according to the new theory you need to run it in hard.

Last weekend I had the bike on the ...

Re: New Member

Have just test driven r1200gs and was most impressed but availability is not until August (thats the summer over in scotland) and only available with ABS (£750!)
I've tested the BMW this weekend. Very nice bike, but compared to the Multistrada, it's a different beast altogether. The BMW reminded ...

Re: Cost of Ownership.

Hum. Where I come from a rear tyre is closer to 230 euros than 130.

The service costs about the same as it did on my TDM, maybe it's just an expensive workshop.

Probably best to check with your local Ducati dealer. Like I said, I think they use fixed prices, so no surprises there.

Re: Cost of Ownership.

First service on my bike was 750 euros, but that included a new rear tyre.

What did you expect from an Aprilia dealer? Surely he is not going to try to convince you into buying a Ducati wen you are interested in one of his bikes.

As far as I know, Ducati is working with "Service centers" (they ...

Re: Any battery leakage problems with your new MTS?

CoastalRider, do you know exactly where the leak is on battery the Monster models? Call me lazy, but the link you posted is a bit large to read completely ;)

By te looks of it, the battery on the Monster is mounted on its side above the front cilinder:

Re: Buy a MS?

Maybe it is an option not to get the bike from an official dealer. I bought mine at a small (3 mechanics plus the owner) workshop just around the corner. Not a dealer, but they know their bikes, have all the proper tools, including the computer testing device and I totally trust them with my bike ...
