From what I was reading the difference between 1000/1100 in the low revs must be pretty noticeable. Over all I guess the plus in power of the bigger engine is not all that substantial, some of it seems to get lost in the strict emission controls. So, since you know the 1000 engine ...

There is an absolute clear and indisputable answer to your question;
YES, you're most likely to have less problems with a yamasukanda.
(you never know, you might get a bad japanese or an exceptional good italian bike)

You certainly will get more power and maybe even better control ...

Stay away from the Multistrada. Eventhough it might feel & drive differently, it is a 2V Ducati too...



its a more butch looking version of my partner Julies BMW F650CS which is a blast to ride

Note though that Ducati had a bad batch of engine cases for the DS engines which afflicted Monster 1000's aswell - shown by large chunks of paint literally falling off, starting at the hard end, sump etc. Should only be on a few of the very early MTS's though if at all so look out for that ...

Well, last year I did a gravel pass in the alps, abolutely no performance problem...
but;
every little stone beeing thrown from the wheels against the fairing hurts a lot, the sandy dust sitting on the tank wants to be better beeing blown off gently and anyways, would you take a fancy beauty out ...

I did about 7000km with the original setup & screen (185cm ~6 feet and a few toes :lol: ).

Now I am using the comfort screen with the "lip". Just turned that handle on the right and my head started shaking from one side to the other beeing pushed by the wind!! I looked at the speedometer ...
