The dl650 is the best value, but the Duc is sexier.
The Suzuki is reliable, bulletproof, fun to ride.
The Duc has "character", is red, and has sex appeal.
The Suzi moves in the twisties and tours forever with comfort.
The Duc moves me.
The DL650 is cheap to buy and own and maintain.

Re: Multistrada vs. Bike X, Y, or Z
I've been following the forums at stromtroopers.net for some time now. As you might expect, there are some real diehard "mine is better than yours" blowhards. Yes, the vstrom is everything the reviews say it is - realiable, inexpensive to own (especially the excellent dl650), and fun to ride.

Re: MTS1000 or DL1000 Suzuki
You might consider the DL650 vstrom. Smoother torque delivery than the dl1000 and quicker handling as well. In many ways it is better than the mts 620, I don't know about the mts1000.

GP Motocycles is pretty good in San Diego, although I haven't been to the Ocean Side Ducati dealer.

Re: muti 620 vs vstrom 650
On the other hand,
The Suzuki handles nearly as well as the Duc (the MTS is smaller), and makes for an excellent tour bike as well. I've ridden many long hours from San Diego to San Francisco or Las Vegas on the Vstrom. The 650 has never stuttered, sliced canyons with the best of them, and makes ...

Re: Did some recon...
You might even consider looking at the Suzuki dl 650 or 1000. The 650 can be had new for around 6K OTD. Its a better bike than the multistrada 620, but not as sexy.
Maintenance is next to nothing on the dl650, certainly something to consider at this time. And the dl650 WILL rock and roll ...

Re: Multistrada/V-Strom and valves
Please don't throw produce, but I've ridden both the Vstrom 650 and Mts 620. I prefer the feel, comfort, and reliability of the Suzuki. The Duc is buzzy, and the seating position doesn't fit me. The vstrom is quicker, I feel is more torquey, and just as much a blast to ride as the Duc.

Re: MTS1000 vs Suz. V-Strom 650
I've ridden my K4 DL650 Vstrom for a year in good and bad weather. Mine is black and (I think) is the most attractive color for vstroms. The greatest criticism I hear from friends, fellow riders, and in reviews is that the vstrom is "bland" or downright ugly. On the other hand, other folks seem to ...

Advice needed on what to buy
Advice needed on what to buy. Reviews on the Multistrada and Vstrom both sound too good to be true. Does anyone have experience with either or both? Consider:
Fun factor
cost to buy/maintain
sex appeal
thanks
