I love the bike but have had continual trouble with it. IMO, it would be a great second bike but not a great only bike.

Re: Price advice for 2006 Multi 1000 DS (+ 620 vs 1000 question)
(1) The 1000 is really nimble on any road.
(2) Not sure if the maint interval is the same but you have a wet clutch I believe with the 620 so that is a bit more durable. I don't think they suffer from the valve guide problem but that is a warranty item anyway.

Re: high mileage '06 1000s question
I have 31k on my 2006 model. I had the valve guide problem and now have a warped fuel tank. Both of these are known issues and were done under warrantyl.
Aside from the warranty issues I have had no problem with the bike at all. I full on plan on putting 100k on mine. As was pointed out, the motor ...

Re: Long distance rides
Hey guys, this is my first post... :)
A quick history on me...I've been riding for about 8 years now. I've owned a '99 ZX-6R, then an '03 RC51, and now my '06 600rr. Been riding the track for the past 3 years, though I doubt I am going to spend much more money on that. I'm getting less interested ...

Ahhhhh...a troll. Welcome to the board jackass.
Now now, there's no need for name calling. Multistrada.net in my experience has always been respectful, and most of all helpful. Perhaps we can best help our new new member by giving him access to a venue best suited to his expressed interests ...

Re: The new Japanese Multistrada
Gods bless Ducati for building the Multistrada, one of the most forward-thinking motorcycles ever.
But it is a shame that they can't seem to build a problem-free motorcycle even when they try to.
So new blessings to Kawasaki (surprised, i was!) for blatantly copying the Multi 620 with the new ...

Re: SoCal 2006 MTS 1000s OTD Price?
Yeah, but I don't normally go seek out the prices on e-bay or elsewhere. I believe ignorance is bliss.
I can honestly say that after 10 months and 12k miles I like the bike today more than I liked it when I first bought it.

Two points:MultiWiley wrote:A "Slower" Red '06 1000s$11,250
1. That is a good price for a 1000s. I was not hoping to see that depriciation in print. Gotta keep it forever now.
2. Red is not the slower color but, in fact, is the faster color. Don't make me bust out the pics to prove it.
Congrats,

Re: Engine/Exhauast heat effect on rider?
Nah, that is not the cast with the Multi. The 2V motors don't seem to radiate the same amount of heat as the 4V ones do for some reason.

Re: Engine/Exhauast heat effect on rider?
I don't feel any heat specifically from the motor. The 4V motors produce gobs more heat that is felt by the rider than the 2V motors. I have ridden in over 100 degree temps and was hot from the sun but not from the bike. The same when I had my SS. Motor and exhaust heat was never an issue for me ...

They are both a good deal. If you plan on getting an exhaust anyway then the one for $7600 might be a better deal.
I prefer the 1k 'cause I am a bigger guy and like how roomy it is.

I have 12k miles this year so far and the only probs have been the valve guides. That was a known issue and was under warranty.

Re: Considering a Multistrada 1000
Hey Jon,
The ST3 and Monster have different riding postitions to me. The ST3 is way more comfortable.
Now, about the Multi. I have a 1000S and use it for all of my transportation needs from commuting to touring to tearing up the canyons to track days. It has been a great bike that performs really ...

Re: Wife and I want MTS 1000S, good idea?
Typically a beginner bike and a two-up touring bike are not really two compatible things.
We have the 1k and do some two-up riding on it. I could not speak to the 620 but I would imagine that it might be lacking a bit of power for two-up work (I don't know that for sure though).
What does make ...

Re: No dealer within MILES - should I buy?
How mechanically inclined are you? Can you check valve clearance? Can you adjust valves? If you can then go for it. That is really all that needs to be done to a 2v (and there are parts you can get that should help with the valve adjustment interval). If you cannot do that work then it might become ...
