hi fred,
i'm 5' 9" or 1.75m and have no problems at all with riding the bike. I have other issues with it, but not height-wise.
Staying on the same subject, I couldn't touch the ground on a Yamaha Fazer 1000, about 2" too short. I find the MTS and R1150GS (on lowest seat setting) no problems at ...

Rocker,
My hat comes off for you sir
I hope I have some of the co-ordination and skills you have now in that many years time
The most I ever paid for insurance was for a Toyota Celica when I was 21, 1300gbp

Re: Any one tried the BMW R1150GS and Ducati Multistrada ?
I took delivery of my red MTS in March. Very happy apart from some corrosion on some of the fittings and the ssssssshuddery brakes. I find the handling much better than my 'storm was, though I do miss the power somewhat. Overall I'm faster, but there is less acceleration above 170kph.

El Capitain
I just might take you up on the offer - 1200GS and fish+chips for lunch ? Why not ?
It was an extremely close call on the 1150GS vs MST, the fact that the MST would be new with a 2year warranty with 0% over 2 years compared with a 2001 on a 51 with 24k miles and corrosion on the ...

Its interesting to see this thread is going strong. It is also heartening to see it hasn't descended into the usual defensive and offensive slanging match.
In case you haven't read throught the whole thread, I went for a MST in red. Have had problems with the bike and dealer, but I'm still lovin ...

Re: long distance supermoto
Indy,
I bought mine 6 weeks ago. My choice was between a 2year old 1150GS and a new MST. I know of more GS owners than MST owners, but the GS has corrosion problems too.
I found the GS more comfortable and I love the looks
The things I didn't like are :
1) It is w-i-d-e
2) It is heavy

Re: Multistrada vs. Bike X, Y, or Z
MTS - has been around longer, Ducati has had longer to sort out the bugs.
Reliabilty wise, I don't think the MTS has any intrinsic fault which stops it dead in it's tracks. Most are concerned with quality of the finish and front-end resonance.
R1200GS - brand new, released next week in UK. All ...

Re: Test ride...
The MST has 25mm more suspension travel than the superbike range (source Italian Bike No 7 July/August 2003). Best thing to do is to borrow one for a few hours and try it out on your favourite piece of road and see how it feels. To me a MST is a sports bike, but in a much friendlier, usable format ...

Re: Test ride...
Hello Il vento,
Personally I wouldn't look upon the MST as a go any where dual purpose bike. There are other bikes which are better when the black top changes to dirt. Look at the new BMW R1200GS. I have tested the 1150GS extensively and it was an extremely close call between an old 1150GS and a new ...

I've gone a sexy italian redhead, she arrives second day in March.

Can't wait, really excited

Re: Any one tried the BMW R1150GS and Ducati Multistrada ?
PeeBee,
Reading the bike magazine arcticles/reviews I believe my legs aren't long enough to ride a KTM Adv, My height is 1.75m, 0.74m inside leg/ inseam. Same reason why I haven't test ridden a Triumph Tiger, 5 seconds sitting on it was enough.
I can cope with the MTS and GS ok.

Hi prof,
we meet again - Have BT010 on my firestorm, rear has lasted about 3500 miles, not good ! But excellent grip and feedback wet or dry.
What do you have on your MST ??
Would BT020 be a good choice?
p.s. I nearly lowsided a GS on Tourances ....

Hello Prof,
I've been posting on ukgser as well. From the tone of the group I thought I'd get very biased/subjective opinions, overall it has been quite well balanced.
I could sum up :
German - steady, dependable
Italian - way more SEXY
