Re: Buy in America or in Italy?

Can you pick up a US spec bike at the factory?
If so how?
Bill

That is how i got mine. Straight from Bologna using a german dealer. Paid the US list price for it, so not much of a discount. But your going to pay to have it shipped to the US. And i dont think you can register a US bike over here ...

Re: Buy in America or in Italy?

Dont think that is going to happen. As an American living in Europe i was able to purchase a US spec from Ducati of Germany who ordered direct through Bologna, Italy. But as for the other way around i do not think it is possible.
From what i was told by Ducati, only Ducati of North America ...

Re: US or EU - Tech on Mts

No black charcoal canister, no US stickers to say it meets EPA regs. Oh yea and fuel tank does not have the vent line as ours does for the canister. Other than that..

Re: Fuel Range

Hey Doc that guy is from Oregon so its not liters there in the states.
But after doing my trusty conversion it looks to be about 38mpg. 8)
On average you will see about 35-40 with some folks higher and some lower depending on the riding.

Re: Why a Multistrada

Blue, I came from the sportbike world riding bikes with over 140hp. Yes they are cool, but in the real world you cant use all the power unless your racing on the track. So the MTS is the perfect choice. Its much more fun at a slower speed, with comfort to boot. The upright riding position is much ...

Re: dirty ability of the MS

Thats a big negative. Best to consider a BMW GS1150 or some other big trailie. KTM 950 would be nice.

Re: St4s to MTS??

I havent done the switch but i test rode both. Acceleration is about the same. Factor in the extra 50lbs on the ST4 with about 20more hp and you have the same power to weight ratio with the MTS. Have you checked out the new 2004 ST4? It all depends on what your looking for. Take one for test ride ...

Re: New to list, I want a Multistrada

Re: Cost of Ownership.

The only time my bike ever goes to the dealer will be for valves, or serious warranty work. Other than that i will do all maintanance myself. The good thing is that you guys who just drop the bike off and say "fix it" keeps these dealers in bussiness.
Its your money.

Re: Cost of Ownership.

You can shave alot of that cost by doing most of the maintenance yourself. Basic oil and filter change, spark plugs etc. And of course if you must change the tire, pull the thing off the bike first and take it to the shop to have the tire changed. And of course dont order the tire from the dealer ...

Re: Stuck in desicion making!

Im in the same dilema. I do like the R1150GS BMW for all around riding. But the price is scaring me away and yes it is heavy as hell. But riding it is as nice a sitting in a mobile couch. hehe
Im still leaning towards the MS for more of a all around bike. I dont do a whole lot of long tours so the ...
