I wanted a MS, the price is marked down, the only thing in the way was selling my 900SS/SP which has been done, so now I could go get a MS but in the meantime I went and looked at the Buell Ulysses again, even took it for a test ride. I'm trying to decide which bike I want to get and figured that you guys could pitch the Ducati more.
Why the MS? It's a Ducati! The 900SS was my starter Duc, and did the job very well. I got back on my Pegaso last night after getting it back together and obviously I did something wrong, surely the Peg couldn't be this flat in comparison? Oh, it still handles nice and nimble but it sures feels like a tractor after the Duc-maybe I put the wrong wieght of diesel in the tank. I've had other fast bikes before, but the difference never seemed this pronounced. The MS may be tall but it's not as tall as the Uly, it's lighter by a bit (25lbs) but it's way down on raw HP compared to the Uly, 103 vs 63. OTOH, the Uly usable powerband is pretty narrow, figure 2000 to 5000, at 6500 the Uly is redlining where the SS was just getting serious. Some folks have reported that the newer 620's are similar powerwise to the older 750's, and my kids 2001 750 SS sure seemed plenty peppy, thoughts anyone?
The Uly has the power advantage in raw numbers, has one of the best seats on a bike, has that cool triple tail. The muffler serves as a great skid plate. The maintenence on the Uly is pretty much change the oil and check the drive belt. It's also about $1500 more than the MTS.The MTS 1000 is $3500 more and I don't feel like spending that much on a bike right now.
I do mostly weekend/evening riding and enjoy blasting down the occasional gravel road. I've taken the Pegaso down trails that were beyond the intended use

Mostly solo, occasional pillion.
I'm especially interested in Pegaso vs MS comparisons....there are at leats a couple of Pegaso pilots here, unusual to have more than one Pegaso guy per forum!
Has anybody managed to knock a hole in the oil filter? Is there a guard available for that?
Thanks for reading my long winded winding post and looking forward to getting flamed.
Cheers
