I am in a bit of a quandary as to which of the 2 MTS 1100S I should buy. I am going to put my dilemma before this forum:
My Ducati dealer has the following MTS 1100Ss for sale:
1- early 2007 demo with 2,000 miles on the odometer and Termi slip-ons. 600 mile service done. This bike has been ridden by the owner as well as their demo MTS.
2 or 3 bone stock 2008s on the floor
All units are black.
I would imagine that the best deal is on the demo, eventhough they would pass the cost of the Termis on to me..Iis there something to be said for a brand new MTS? From what i've gotten off this forum there are less expensive slip-ons/total systems(Leo Vance, Remus) out there. With the O2 manipulator seems to make the MTS run better, even with the stock pipes
Too many options. What's a guy to do?

Buy the demo for the termigs alone. The bike should have had all problems dialled out by now, and will obviously be a better price.

What kinda pricing are they offering you?
You're coming into the winter months, and those bike will likely be there in the Spring unless the dealer is motivated to discount em.
Get their best price, walk out, shop it around, and go back in a few days...

Does the demo have the DP ECU also?
It also depends on the prices, AND if you are doing a loan if a demo affects the loan costs (probably still sold as new).
Personally, unless there was a substantial savings and/or you really want the Termis I'd probably buy one of the 08 bikes myself.

It's all down to price... Termis are great but very expensive!!!! don't forget the comfort/peace of mind of the extra warranty on a new one....

Go for the maximum warranty just in case, will you be using the dealer for servicing too ? Maybe mention that to extract best price.
If you can wait a couple of months, i.e. around Xmas you may be able to get a bigger discount too

I am answering all the Qs from FL. (visiting the g-kids for a few days).
1. Both the '07 demo and the '08s would have "as new" warranty with them.
2. I believe the '07 has the whole package: Termi slip-ons, DP ECU and Air Filter.
3. The bank looks at the '07 as a "used" bike so they will loan me less compared to an '08. Now that the '09s are hitting the market the figures will change.
4. Don't have a comparitive price on the bone stock '08. The '07 price is "dealer cost". The OTD price I have is with a bunch of options which I'm going to alter plus a myrid of fees and taxes.
5. The black multi in the post is a consignment bike. The price on it is $15K. I don't know if it is typical of the polished black paint; but the side bags have a lot of blemishes on the outer top curve of the cases.
The owner is seriously considering picking up the demo for himself. He admits that the "08s "aren't going anyware.

Mike,
Still no prices?
If you don't want to say the price of the 07 that's OK I understand, but I don't know what "dealer cost" is on the 07 and you haven't a price on the 08? So how can you compare?
I would say it comes down to price, whatever that is. So here is all I can say. If the 07 is a great deal, buy it. If it is not, buy the 08.
I hope I didn't sound rude, but if you want advice about which one to buy you have to know all the numbers.
I was looking to buy a new 08 back in April, but then I found a perfect 07 with 409 miles on it for $8650.00. Couldn't pass it up. It saved me a lot of money to spend on other things.

DENTGUY,
$10,400.00 is what they are telling me is their bottom line on the demo "07 is. I wish they'd go down to $8500-9000.00.
Don't have a price on the '08 because I just decided to explore that potential option.

Is that $10400.00 your out the door price, including taxes and fees, with all the options you are talking about (Termi's etc.)?
Is that just the bike with no add ons?
Just trying to be clear.

I would always go for new; I have grim experience of 'pre owned' Ducatis.

$!0,400.00 is for the bike ONLY. Then they add options, taxes and fees.
I think they're charging me a grand for the Termis. I'm reducing my "wish list" of options, so the OTD price will go down.

I think I would go for the 08. I would try to work a deal on it and then choose my own options (exhaust, etc).
Good luck.
