Anyone know if or when Ducati will offer the Multistrads with ABS brakes? I currently ride a BMW and love having ABS. I have always wanted a Ducati but don't have a Ducati style body, that all changed when I sat on the Multistrada!

If they came out with ABS tomorrow I would be the pround new owner.

Thanks,

Tim

You like ABS so much that it would be the deciding factor in whether you purchase a bike? Personally, I don't think ABS fits with the scheme of what the MTS was designed for. That is, a minimalist and lightweight bike that is easily maintained. Ducati will likely offer it in the future though, and if there is a market for it, great. I just hope the trend in motorcycling toward ABS, linked brakes, servo assisted brakes (I'm really not trying to pick on BMW), and other complicated and heavy systems don't become standard on Ducatis. Keep my Duc simple and light!

Yes ABS would be the deciding factor as I ride quite a bit in the rain. If the Multistrada would be a second bike for me then I wouldn't care if it has ABS or not, but unfortunatley I cannot afford to have both.

I agree with you that it doesn't seem to fit the minimalist style of the Multistrada though. Maybe I should just get a Monster 620 and keep the BMW as well. :)

Had 3 ABS BMWs (1100rs) (K1200RS) (1150GS) 90,000 Miles
Pleased to have abs. but bit disconcerting when it kicks in.

4000 miles on my MTS and I love it and dont think about the need for it.

Planned riding is always the safest anyway.

Dont let ABS stop you enjoying the benefits of one of these. I dont regret it.

Before purchasing my Multi a week ago I had emailed Ducati with that very question: will there be an ABS version? Moving from an ST1100 ABS, I like the idea of avoiding wild skids. Ducati didn't reply until I'd sealed the deal on the MST (see their reply below). Do I wish the MST had ABS? Sure. Do I regret getting the MST? No way. It's the funnest bike I've had since a 500 Interceptor I purchased new in 1984.

Hope this helps!

Dan

Ducati's response:

"First of all we apologize for the delay in answering you.
Concerning the ABS system we are sorry but we are not in the position to provide information on the future release of new models.
The new 2004 range of bikes has been officially presented last september during the Fair held in Milan."
Best regards,

If you look under the seat and frame on the left side of the frame at the bottom of the gas tank you will see a cavity .Seems to be the spot for the abs stuff. I keep my tire plugger kit there with no problem from heat or rear tire clearance. Or could this be the spot that the charcoal canister should go? Don
