Wanna buy » 1100 Mulit - CA emission compliant?

If you're interested in buying a Multistrada, this is the place to post questions about the bike.

I live in CA and looking at an 1100S a guy has FS in Nevada. Since this bike has under 7500mi, it needs to be CA emission compliant to register in CA. Do all 1100 Multi's conform to CA emission standards and have stickers on bike to verify?

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure the bike is legal in all states including CA. Now getting to the sticker so you can show it to DMV inspector could be an issue. Make sure you can get to it before you go.

Thanks. Yes, the sticker is on the bottom of the tank. I'll be ready for DMV with pre-dissassembly.

Make sure it has the Evap/Charcoal cannister. Many have been removed.
I don't live in CA or know the specifics, but my guess is that they want it on there.

I'm pretty sure that California DMV is only interested in the Federal sticker on the frame with the VIN. There not smart enough to look for equipment :)

Depends on the DMV location, some are on the ball and some not. But with it being an out of state vehicle under the mileage limit, I'm going to be prepared. Copy of the law, email from Ducati stating all bikes are 50 state compliant as well as have tank ready to come off so they can eyeball it. Oh, and a $50 in case it helps the reg process :)

I thought the word "California" needs to appear on one of these EPA stickers. Here is the link:

http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/brochures/fa ... ffvr29.htm

"To find out whether a car or truck is California Certified, check the emission label under the hood. For a motorcycle check the headset or frame. The label should read that the vehicle conforms to California regulations, or that it is legal for sale in California."

I was unable to locate the word "California" anywhere on my bike I purchased in CA in 2003. edit: the sticker could be on the bottom of my fuel tank, but I'm on my second tank (thanks Ducati NA) so it may or may not be there.

The emission sticker that says it meets CA spec is under the tank near the back. Hard to see unless tank is removed. Thanks for all the input. I'll post up if/when I get the Multi I'm looking at.

Mine has less miles, probably cleaner, with full Termi, and in Southern California. PM me if you'd like. I have not listed it publicly at this time.
