I read an comparison article in an american motorcycle magazine once comparing these 2 bikes. The conclusion from the article?
Both are very good sport touring bikes.
The Ducati is more sport than touring compaired to the Triumph which is more touring than sport.

IIRC the 2005 Tiger still had the bigger off-road friendly wheels. I think the tiger would better the Multistrada off road, but the Multistrada would be more fun to ride on the road. The standard 17" wheels on the Multi make for quicker steering and much better tyre choice. The Multi is also around 18Kg lighter.

I would go for the Multi.

Between a "new style" Tiger and a Multi there is less of a difference.

You may want to contact benlong100, since he has personal experience with both. But I would expect his answer to be slightly skewed toward the Ducati since he's migrating this way.

By the way, I think I'll start offering my weight in 'stone': Sounds much more svelte than my 190lbs!

After a test ride on the new Tiger back in 07, I completely concur. The ergonomics, suspension and general "feel" of the Tiger really didn't suit me. I felt like I was sitting on a chair as opposed to a motorcycle and the feeling underway wasn't much better. Of course this is all personal, so test ride if you can.
