Cant decide between those two! I really was considering z1000 untill i saw a Multistrada, I love the sitting position of it and everything else, I mostly buying a bike to go around town, and to drive outside of City just to enjoy riding... Multistrada is a bit more expensive but I'm wiling to spend more. Decisions decisions.

For me as an ex Kawasaki fanatic the only thing that the Z has over the MS is that it is available in green :)

Ride them both. If you like the looks and feel of sitting on it more, you are most of the way of anwsering you own question.
The Kawaski is supposed to be a great bike, but I'm sure it is a lot different to ride.

Can you test them both?
The origial seat on the 2004 isn't very good, others are avaliable but not all that easy to change, maybe I should re-phrase-- not all the quick to change. The 2005 has a taller screen also.
I bought an 'S' it seemed worth the extra cash to me, but if you are already streaching it than don't look at one!

Used or a leftover could get you a good price with enough left over to upgrade the seat.

Red Rock isn't that a Drink. Seriously I really do miss that green of Kawasaki especially as most of riding gear matched it.

Green Yellow Red that would be the choice of colours for my MS if I had the choice in that order.

I did think about not posting this as that would have left me on 888 posts the name of one of my favourite Dukes :)

No such thing as just another bike. That is like saying just another human being. Different bikes have different characteristics just as humans due. Just because we prefer one to another that doesn't mean the other bike is not preffered by someone else. I nevwe disrespect another person's choice of ride

True to some extent, but some have more character and style. Try to sell a jap bike 10 years down the road. Or look at it this way. A harley rider will only ride a harley. nothing else will due. Is it a better bike? I think not, but a bike can be more than the sum of its parts. Im not bashing jap bikes here. I own a Kawasaki. a KLR 650, and Ive looked at the Z1000, and it is rather stylish looking. I realy like it, but it is no ducati.

Joe As you say some Harley riders will only ride a Harley some Ducati riders willonly ride Ducatis and some riders would ide niether. Of course there are those like me who are motorcycling whores and will ride anything with an engine and two wheels (scooters excepted in my case)
This is much the same as some guys will only date blindes and others will only date redheads. This doesn't mean that blondes are superior (or inferior) to redheads just that they are more suited to that guys taste. Much the same applies to bikes it is simply a matter of personal taste. Many of put up wiyj the trials tribulations of Ducati ownership but others would not be prepared to do so
In my humble opinion one marque is not betterethan another just different
for instance back in the late 70s my main bikes were nearly always BMWs

I don't know about the States but in the UK the two marques that hold their value are Harly and BMW, Certainly not Ducati. Ask any Brit who has tried to trade in his Multistrada recently
