I am interested in purchasing a Multistrada 1000ds or 1100s.
I currently have a Ducati 1000 SportClassic Biposto looking to sell or trade with a Multi. You can see it in the classified section at Ducati.MS
Here's the link:
http://www.ducati.ms/forums/128-bikes/1 ... 0-bip.html
Let me know if you have any for sale, or interested in a trade.
Many Thanks,
~k

Just for what its worth, i would still go with the 1000S DS, just because it doesn't have the closed loop fuel injection (no Lambda Sensor) and can be easily outfitted with a Power Card (what i have) or a Power Commander (which i despise, but it still works) if you get a some slipons, cat-eliminator, or a full system.koucki wrote:I am interested in purchasing a Multistrada 1000ds or 1100s
I rode both on the same day, and many people might disagree with me, but i really didn't feel any power advantage that 1100 supposed to have over the 1000DS... honestly.
Maybe because the 1000DS that i rode had a full exhaust and the 1100S was bone stock..? Not sure... Still, 1100 does feel like it has some more torque though. But its negligible in my opinion. I think the only "real advantage" that 1100 has over 1000DS is that Ducati apparently solved the Fuel level readout issue that pre-2007 had had....
Yeah! I can't believe that between Dave, Chris, you, and myself we might actually end up as an all-Multistrada "crew" LOLkoucki wrote:Thanks Dave!!

Very interested in your comments as I have a 2005 DS1000 and have been lusting after a later model 1100S.schtirlitz wrote:Just for what its worth, i would still go with the 1000S DS, just because it doesn't have the closed loop fuel injection. In your opinion, does the later model have better fuel economy because of the closed-loop system? What are your thoughts on dry-clutch versus wet-clutch?
Any other gems of wisdom regarding why you would (or wouldn't) change?

the biggest reasons why I went with an 1100 was
1. solved the valve guide issue
2. Longer service intervals.
I regret not having a dry clutch, not sure if wet is really better, but dry certainly sounds different.
I cant see anyone feeling the difference in hp over only 100cc
I wish he was trading his K1200R or 07 RWB VFR800 for a multi...I would be all over that

I wouldn't bail on a 1000DS just to get a 1100. Not enough difference to make it worth swapping bikes. As long as your valve guides are good they are pretty bullet proof engines and will run a long time. There is a member here with 115,000 miles on his.shards wrote:Very interested in your comments as I have a 2005 DS1000 and have been lusting after a later model 1100S.schtirlitz wrote:Just for what its worth, i would still go with the 1000S DS, just because it doesn't have the closed loop fuel injection. As far as the longer service intervals on the newer bikes it's all marketing. The shims & keepers are all the same parts. If you (or your mechanic) adjust the valves on the tighter end of the spectrum, longer intervals will be no problem.
I get 50mpg (longer rides) or 45mpg (around town) with my 05 1000DS
with exhuast/open airbox/ power commander.
For the original poster, the Multi will be much more comfortable than you current ride, yet slightly less attactive

I've never met an internal combustion engine I didn't like.
