Hi folks,

I'm purchasing a 2015 1200S Touring and I am well and goodly stoked. However, the bike is in Portland and I'm in CA. Would appreciate any advice on things to be careful of or things to ask about.

The first thing I know I don't know is how I should proceed with the tires. The dealer tells me they are original with 50% tread. My gut says original is too old and this point and I should get them replaced - anyone have strong opinions or guidance?

Otherwise, the bike looks great - 6k miles, akra full exhuast, painted crash bars, no drops or issues by the dealers word.

Anything else I should be on the lookout for?

I'd definitely go with new tires, the metzler sportec m7rr mentioned on here today sound great and the 600-700 miles from Portland to Mountain View will be much more stress free with fresh rubber between you and the variable conditions of Oregon and NorCal. The '15 1200S Multi should be a blast for you, just watch the speed on I-5, can be lots of enforcement so keep it under 85.

Also, make sure the oil & filter are fresh, 6K miles may be just short of the discretionary change point. I made the mistake of pushing to 6K and suffered engine issues (I ride HARD), now I'm a dedicated 3-3.5K miles guy for Oil & Filter.

I'll call the dealer today and inquire about replacement options and pricing, as well as the oil and filter change (good tip I hadn't thought of). With luck, perhaps they'll cover some or all of it.

Have a safe ride. If the dealer is MotoCorsa in Portlad, they are a solid dealer with fine wrenches.

A multi (air cooled or new gen) with a full exhaust and a proper tune is one hell of a ride. And I believe you have electronic cruise to help out on that long ride

It is MotoCorsa and they have been seriously awesome so far.

Minor followup: dealer recommended Michelin Road 5s or Dunlop RoadSmart 3's - didn't seem familiar with the Metzlers. Is it anyone's opinion that going with the Michelins is a colossal mistake?
