I've narrowed my search down to two bikes, similar miles, same model year - one S, one "regular." The S also comes with the Ducati hard panniers, which I don't like/want, but of course add yet more cost to that bike, putting it slightly beyond what I want to pay.
So, I have to consider buying the bike and then selling the bags to hit my budget target. Is there a market for used hard bags? What's the ball-park street price for used (say, scuffed) bags? Being totally uninformed about Multi accessories, I couldn't say what version/volume they are, but they are on a 2006, red.
I hope to post pics soon of my very own Multi (preferably the S . . .)!
Cheers,
Al

There are 3 ducati hard bags, the approx. capacity is as follows:What's the ball-park street price for used (say, scuffed) bags?
1) 28L
2) 34L
3) 32L by Givi; these are the latest models and have different latches.
The value of a used may be a function of if they are 1,2, or 3. My guess is the 28L will sell within 10 minutes of being advertised. The 34L may be the toughest sell. Now this scuff stuff-- I would have to see how scuffed before making a judgment. For what it's worth, I can get the Givi ones for $850 out the door from the dealer, and I paid $630 for some new 28L ones on ebay just a month ago. Unfortunately I had to return them because they were both left-handed panniers.
$600 for a used pair in good condition seems fair.
How bad are the scuffs, and do you know the size? Disclosure: I'm looking for hard bags, I just don't know if I would use them enough to justify $850.

I don't actually know, yet - that was how the dealer described them. I suspect it is the typical rubbing associated with a missed dismount or perhaps setting them on the ground. I'll post pics and an ad here sometime soon.
At least it sounds like there is a market for them - cool.

I spent quite some time looking for Ducati panniers for my MTS and I can assure you that the secondhand panniers will sell on Ebay if you don't want them.
I bought a pair of used 28L grey and had the grey parts repainted red to match my bike.
