hi everyone. been surfing these forums for a while now. what is it about the multistrada. it just makes me curious and curious. everytime im in the showroom i have to sit on it and look at it.
please help me out. ive had a couple of sportsbikes, most recently a fantastic speed triple, and i am now riding a ktm supermoto. (duke II) its a great bike.
this is basically what i do on a bike,
ride out for a full day for pleasure. 200/300 miles
rideouts for a few hours. 150+
go to work on it now and again.
go to scotland a couple of times a year. 3/4 days riding
the supermoto is fantastic fun but i dont fancy going the distance on it. its fantastic fun but now i feel that my biking world is slightly restricted. comfort fuel range etc etc.
my last bike was a speed triple, absolutley fantastic engine, build quality etc etc. it brought me great pleasure in sun and rain. i had if for 3 years and cannot knock it. i just fancied a change of direction as you do. i cannot get the mutlistrada out of my head for some reason. i love singles, vtwins and triples.
i want build quality, fun, tank range and x factor rolled into one. i hate blandness. i want my bike to make me exited in the garage and i want to love it on the road.
i have spotted a nice 03 red one for 3995. please help my torturous dilema. i looked at a 03 in the showroom and it looked nice apart from the rotting lower engine. i have never been used to a flaking engine and crap build quality. are they all like this, shureley not. by the way i am 6'3 and 13.5 stone.
one thing for shure i have a reasonably tight wallet and cannot afford to spend loads of dosh every 6 months on servicing. is it that bad or not.
i love my bikes and cannot put them away with one fly or speck of dust on them. so looking after it is not a problem.
am i a multisrada lover in the waiting or will i regret it....
please help my twisted soul....
Wanna buy » hellllllpppppp mmmeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I don't know if the one with the rotting engine for 3995 would fit the bill, but for not too much more I'd imagine you could find one that would make you happy without losing your wallet on either purchase or maintenance.

Most of the ones that get used rather than played with are like this. Fit a belly pan so that the engine doesn't get blasted with muck off the front wheel / to cover up the flaking paint so that you can't see it.i have never been used to a flaking engine and crap build quality. are they all like this, shureley not
Don't let a little flaking paint put you off, it's a great bike.

I've ridden all sorts of bikes from supermotos and turbo charged hyabusas to Harleys and choppers and I can safely say that my DS1000 Multistrada is one of the greatest bikes for messing around on the twisties or blasting up a motorway all day but there are a few points to bear in mind.
If you want to maintain a Ducati service history then it's probably cheaper to rent it! £495 plus parts plus VAT for a major service!
Also, I've got the Ducati "comfort" gel seat which feels like a plank of wood and after 150 miles your ass is really numb.
But having said that, if your willing to look after it yourself you won't get much more fun for your money, unless you can afford the 990 super duke from KTM (boy...... that's a bike and a half)
Tony
PS you wont need to buy too many front tyres
