It's difficult to put a finite figure on chain mileage
A bike that only gets ridden in the dry and has the chain lubed every ride and is not wheelied, may get 30,000 from a chain
A bike thats commuted on, ridden in all weathers and the throttle in not spared, will do half that

Re: 1100S Buyers Guide
Sorry about that, new to here.
I'm in the US.
Based on my reading of the court docs, I had to be the owner of the bike as of Jan 16 2012 for my bike to be included. Or am I missing something (happens often enough).
I cannot get that bike off my mind. Perfect fit, tons of power, smooth as silk ...

Re: 1100S Buyers Guide
Thanks, everyone, for all the really helpful info on here.
I just finished test-riding a '09 1100s, and man what a hoot that bike was. It is just a wonderful piece of equipment, and fits like it was made for me. I didn't see any evidence of fuel leaking, tank cracking or fork seals leaking.

My 04 Multistrada has proved more reliable than my 04 Caponord
The Caponord needed stuff rectifying that the factory built in, the Ducati has had to have nothing......
Perhaps a bit unfair on the Aprilia, it was a good bike, but the Ducati has more "soul"

Re: Do MTS do high mileage or are they just sitting pretty?
My multi didn't make it there and I went had to return home for another bike. I was so disappointed abt not having my multi to ride. Then the recovery man reminded me that I have had 31500 miles of reliability! He said it's rare he picks up ducats but every weekend he picks up BMW/ hondas and ...

Re: Do MTS do high mileage or are they just sitting pretty?
Taking all the obvious reasons why you would by a MTS against a GS, just looks alone. But, I am in a dilemma, do I go for something that really is proven on miles over many yrs but isnt as pretty or will Ducati provide me with 4-5 yrs or more, of reliable and not overley expensive servicing as it ...

Re: Too soon? A 1200S for a second bike
Yup, the more I think about this the above is good advice
A Multistrada 100/1100 is exactly what you need to get the Ducati experience
You may find you don't want or need any other bike

Re: Too soon? A 1200S for a second bike
Under normal "rules", I would say no, get something in-between the two extremes and learn to ride with about 100BHP, a classic 1100/1000 Multistrada perhaps
But then the 1200 has 3 x power modes, and maybe you could enter the big bike world and leave the switch in its lowest power setting and put a ...
