Crowdog, I went from the cruiser riding position to a MTS-type riding position on my BMW and, more recently, my KLR650, and I won't go back. It is my understanding that the ergonomics of the 620 and 1000 are exactly the same, so either one should fit just the same. If engine power is important to you, I guess go for the 1,000. I don't thrash on bikes, and prefer lighter weight (not to mention cost!) so I ordered the 620.

I think the choice of bikes depends on how you ride and how much weight you carry. I bought a BMW R1100RT to tour, but I'm 140 pounds and never carry a passenger, so it turns out it's just too big and heavy. It's a great bike, though, and would be great for a heavier person with a passenger ...
