Re: can the MS replace my trusted 93 900SS ?

yidal8, I had a 95 900 Superlight which as you know doubt know is the same bike with a single seat.

The engines whilst being of the same family feel very different, - the SS engine feels heavy compared to the 1000DS, - it is also less refined and to me noisier, part of that was the fairing of an SS ...

Re: Multistrada 1000 as first Bike?

Perhaps my reply was a bit "harsh" but it was in that tone for a reason, - to be read and generate opinion/reply.

I actually think that as motorcyclists we cannot advise another on something like this without knowing that person and how they ride, - what their general attitude is and so on. If a ...

Re: Multistrada 1000 as first Bike?

Not sure I agree with the idea of going for a 1000cc first bike idea. I think you learn to be a better rider by doing the progression thing in stages, I also am not sure that the 1000 V(L) twin is the easiest of engines to learn to ride with, - the engine below 4000 rpm is not that nice. The brakes ...

Re: Thinking about a MS S1000DS 2005

the bike is in Ducati terms is easier to ride, - it is no where near as stable as my 916 on long sweeping bends, but turns in so much easier the 916 could bruise palms! To have fun on a MS you don't need to be a track day king, - confidence? I guess I have a lot more confidence riding it on less ...

Re: What's the MS Story?

and as for the Harley bit? Not a clue about that one, Ducs like to be ridden and don't have 2500mile service intervals, - and yes i have ridden Harleys, - brother with a Hard tail, friend had a 1200 Sporster (only bike his dominating wife would let him have) and have to say that they are the worst ...

Re: What's the MS Story?

i had a '98 Superlight/900SS. The numpty has a complete different engine feel to it; it feels a lot lighter, - so spins up without that feeling of effort that the old 2 valvers have. The engine feels smooth like my 916 really. The wide bars make it feel so control-able (excuse the bad English but ...

Re: Potential owner question

when you first get on the MS after a sports bike you sit back as far as you can which is not really the right place to sit on the MS, - you want to be up against the back of the tank, - super moto style, the bike handles beter that way, as I believe in that position you are able to transfer weight ...

Re: Multistrada, Please assure me

i would almost say that if you have to ask to be convinced then the MS is not for you. The love of a Ducati has to be worked at a bit, it does n't come as easy as say a bland Honda, but when you click with Ducati ownership it is the best love affair with a motorbike you could ever have.

Re: Multistrada handling/performance on track?

my opinion would be that a less experienced track rider would do better on a MS than a more race orientated bike and rider. And it depends on the track, - my 916 is damn hard work to get quickly around a small track, - counter steering and so on.
However theone area that would potentially concern me ...

Re: multi vs. aprilia tuono mille

i have to agree in that you can't directly compare the 2 bikes. Sorrry but the Prilla is a styling exercise with an RSV, - the MS is imo a new approach, - typical of Ducati in that they build a bike as a complete unit, - so the horse power on paper has little relavance to the "smile-abilty" of their ...

Re: Cost of Ownership.

well at last we see something where the US pays more than the UK!

UK:
"1st service at 600 miles or 6 months,oil and filter,labour free.(Tho some dealers charge)About35quid.
2nd service,6000 miles or 1 year about 150.
3rd ...
