Re: buying ex-demo

Hey...everybody beats a demo bike...If you are into "proper" breaking in a motor then...... I had a ex-demo ST4 and thousands of miles later the valve train sure did seem to require lots of shims every service...it did not seem to "hold a tune" very long. That said lots of folks seem to believe that ...

Re: Wind blast !?!

At 5'10'' the std screen lets s smooth flow below my helmet- right on my neck. With the accessory screen without the spoiler the wind flow is hitting me closer to my head- it is noisier but warmer this past winter. I can not hear my termi music with the taller screen like I used to with the std one ...

Re: Any one tried the BMW R1150GS and Ducati Multistrada ?

Hey guys- It is funny how different folks have different perspectives on the same experiences. The down the road costs of a new ducati and a new bmw are about the same if you want to keep the warranty alive;ie regular servicing and proof of such for good resale. I have had the same amount of hassles ...

Re: Test ride...

Frost heaves and potholes are dealt with very nicely.Last summer I did Vermont rte 100 with intermittent thunderstorms- big ones- while exploring the state for the first time and the bike was awesome. My favorite quick ride hereabouts is a snakey bumpy no room for error little road from Galesville to ...

Re: Devon & Cornwall Ducati weekend 17/18th May 2003 - a rev

There is definately something to be learned here.....you never get a chance to make a second first impression!!!!! I have run into demo bikes with 19 lbs of air in the front tire and so on . Information from forums like this one are sure helpful both in learning about the product and for learning ...

Re: Cost of Ownership.

Since there is no amount of money that will replace the fun of riding I tend to view the service costs at the dealer as the price to pay so that when He sees me coming he is ready and able to solve any problem I might have. It is like always picking up the lunch tab so somebody else pays for dinner ...

Re: Multistrada with ABS?

If you look under the seat and frame on the left side of the frame at the bottom of the gas tank you will see a cavity .Seems to be the spot for the abs stuff. I keep my tire plugger kit there with no problem from heat or rear tire clearance. Or could this be the spot that the charcoal canister ...

My dealer always has a demo or something that I can ride back home...If such is not offered ask that it be "part of the deal" It seems to get the service done quicklyso they get their bike back too! Don

Re: Another potential owner...

I yanked all the body work off the bike the first weekend and put a good thick coat of Starbrite liquid polish with teflon on everything.I service sailboats and this works great at keeping stuff from sticking and corroding. A quick rinse with COLD water gets rid of most of the road salt. The ...

Re: Stuck in desicion making!

Having never been a good sharer I think you should buy the BMW then when the new improved model comes along next year you can really wish you hadnt. For me having had an oilhead;it is too much of a car while Ducatis have always appealed to me as bicycles with motors wadded into them. Dr T once said ...

Re: Anyone gone from a sports bike to Multistrada?

Coming from a ST4 the mts shines below 80 and the ST4 always wanted to be up there. I really appreciate the forgivingness with bumps cause I try to spend as much time as possible exploring new roads and tend to get sucked into blind decreasing radius bumps and sandy turns all the time and the bike ...
