Re: Should 2009 1100s come with a red key?

...... because you just can't cut these keys because of the immobilizer.

This is not quite correct. If you have a functional BLACK key, most any car lock smith can cut you a new key. Autos have been using this technology for years now. The key RF readers are pretty standard items for auto lock ...

Re: Should 2009 1100s come with a red key?

The red key can be cut to fit your bike, but more correctly, its not really the key, its the chip on the key that's needed. You can't just buy a new RED key. You need to purchase a entire lock and dash set unless you buy a "hacked" dash.

If your ECU went belly up, the Red key would be needed to "re ...

Re: 1100 vs 1100s

Really depends on your weight and your riding style. If you are in the 170-200 lbs. range, then the Ohlins can be adjusted to better fit you. If you are outside of that range, your going to have the forks/shocks done anyway.

The cost of Ohlins components are more than the typical RaceTec pieces ...

Re: A Question for the 620 Owners

Actually it is higher than stock by 1/2 inch or so over the 1x00 and 1 1/2 over the 620. Since I do a lot of track riding, it is the only way to prevent hard parts from grinding.

AT 5'4" and a really short inseam, I am a picture of grace mounting and unmounting this bike.

Re: After First Demo Ride; Not Sure

I don't want to be bothered with chain maintenance on the road.

Huuu

Has this ever been a concern ?

Well, you should clean/lube/adjust it every 600 miles.
Shaft drive maintenance is a drain/refill oil change once a year in my garage.

I understand, but I am not going to pull off the ...

Re: S vs non-S?

I ride primarily to and from work (about 40 miles round trip) and then the weekend 250 milers. Wife does not ride with me...she has no interest. I'm 6-1 225 and while I used to ride MX I find myself dialing it back some these days.

So aside from swapping out the Showa and Sachs for the Ohlins ...

Re: S vs non-S?

If you are easy on your stuff, then you may never notice the difference between the S and non-S.

If you load your bike up, go 9 - 10th with the wife and luggage on back, then the S version will make a difference. The non-S version can be made to feel as good, but its all about the money. It easier ...

Re: Price advice for 2006 Multi 1000 DS (+ 620 vs 1000 question)

I am a 620 guy. Love the motor. What ever I did not like, I changed. Will go as far as to say that it is likely faster on the track than many of the 1000 / 1100 out there.

Vern

PS. you can actually feel the 30+/- lbs. difference. That was the deciding factor for me.
