Hi,

I am considering buying a Multistrada 1100 the non S version.
I have my second varadero at the moment but i am thinking of something better ...

I do ride aprox. 25000 km each year, als a lot with the wife and luggage. Is the Ducati also interesting for long trips with passenger ans a lot of luggage.
Our holiday trips are useally about 8000km and last two or tree weaks.

With a Varadero that is no problem but I miss the passion.

Also as I ride during wintertime as well is it a bike thet will always start also after a cold day in a freezing temperature ?

Thanks

My wife and I have taken several trips of 2 to 3 days on our Multi. For touring, I would consider a larger bike of some sort. I cannot carry much luggage when I take my wife without upsetting the bikes handling. It is also fairly tight quarters for two. We have a good time for a day or two, but that's about it. We rented a Harley dresser before and I did not like such a large bike, but with two up, I think a bike like a Concous, FJ1300 or ST1300 or even a Gold Wing would be better. A wing could probably go faster in the twisties two up than I can on the Multi. Best bet, money no object, is one touring bike for two, and one for yourself to ride.

I think the size of your wife is a factor. My wife has a slender build and is tall at 5'9". She finds the Multistrada to be her favorite bike of everything we've owned - Concours years ago, Ducati ST2/4, Aprilia Futura. I can do decent mileage on the MTS (I've got a BBG1500 under my belt) and my wife and I can easily do 500-600mile days. We have a Corbin seat, which helps.

If you and your wife are bigger, it may be a bit cramped front to rear, especially if you have a top case.

Best,

Thanks for the info we have tested the Strada and riding together is no problem. But if the Strada is equiped with the DP cases on the side and a topcase ? That I don't now.
And the dealer doesn't have a strada fully equiped to see if ther stil is enough space left. especially the foodpegs for the passenger worry me a bit, aren't they to close fitted next to the sidecase ?

Thanks for the info guys.

Yep, she'll have to adjust her feet from where she put them prior to having the side bags installed, but it's not a significant difference.

From what you're saying, it sounds like she'll find it to her liking, even with bags installed.

According to my wife, there are no issues with the panniers & pegs once she is on the bike. But mounting & dismounting can be a little tricky because the front of the pannier overhangs the peg.

We've only taken one long trip of 9 days since I got the Multi, and it was fine for a trip of that duration. I did change the seat and windscreen. I would think about getting bigger luggage for a 2-3 week trip.

My 1100 was slow starting in any weather/temperature unless I cracked the throttle open a bit. But then I put on the Termi kit with the DP ECU and it no longer hesitates to start.
