WOW is all I can say. Maybe STUNNED is more appropriate. I went to price a "package" of accessories to be put on the '07 1100S demo, with Termi slip on, that I'm looking at to buy. The price of the Termies plus the side panniers and top case put me within a few dollars of the $3500.00 limit on my insurance policy. I had a lot more that I wanted to add to make the bike more suitable for long distance(days of) riding.
I happen to peek at the Marketplace forum. I saw 2-07s for sale with low mileage (<1000) for $9.000.00. I think these were 1100s. Do Multis not maintain their value that well? Is this how it is for all Ducs or just the Multi?

Is a shop rate of $85.00/hour+ general shop fees about average?

It's only money. :)
I did a little customizing my bike when I got it last year, and in the end, the unit price of the bike accounted for only 55% of the total
$85/hr may not be low, but it's not high, either; here in NYC, it's $115.

$85 an hour sounds about average I'd think. Nothing European is going to be exactly cheap for a while, especially something as low production as motorcycle accessories. Changing the exhaust and putting on panniers isn't too difficult and you can save yourself some cash by doing it yourself, but it's still going to be pricey.

As for depreciation, I don't know about the circumstances surrounding the sale on the 2 in the marketplace, but I can foresee many people giving up "luxury" goods at a discount rate depending on how the turn in the U.S. economy affects them. You can take advantage of this and just buy used though.
