My son has the 696 and I have put a couple hundred miles on it in a day and I didn't find it nearly as uncomfortable as you guys are making it out to be. It certainly isn't a touring bike, but it was not sport bike uncomfortable to me. You probably just need to ride one to see for yourself. There is a touring seat available for it also, if the seat puts you into the tank as it does for some.
Good luck.

Yes, I do want the 1100, but fiscal constraints limit me to a lower price point. HmmmmJust one point to maybe help narrow yer search: if you came off VFRs, yer gonna wanta 1100. Me thinks, anyway.

If Ducati wants to hit a home run with the next Multi, they'll blend the HM and MTS (weight and styling of HM + wind protection, luggage and fuel capacity of the MTS) into one model, throw a 1200 desmodue in there and call it a day.potomacduc wrote:It's possible the dealer cranked it up a bit to match my height/weight. If you're doing mostly freeway with occasional 2 up riding, and you're used to a VFR then you might want to consider a used ST3. There seem to be plenty available for pretty descent prices. Just an thought...

I looked into those, and to be honest, they just didn't appeal to me. There was nothing visceral about the ST3. It just blended in. Though it is a good bike, just not for me.If you're doing mostly freeway with occasional 2 up riding, and you're used to a VFR then you might want to consider a used ST3. I rode a friends' Monster 696 and was really blown away. That thing is light and frisky, a great little machine. My friend reversed the shift pattern, so that was a surprise. He forgot to mention that. Doh!
How does a Monster 696 compare with a MTS620? Now, I that have a frame of reference, I could use your insight.

I am fortunate enough to have both an MTS 1000DS and a recently acquired older Monster 900s. They're both great bikes...I'm really, really enjoying the M900s. But if I had to choose one, it would be the Multistrada. It just does everything well.Nozz wrote:I looked into those, and to be honest, they just didn't appeal to me.
