I'd like to get a different seat for my '07, but I want to get some opinions first. My primary complaints with the stock rider seat is that it is too slick and a little hard for longer trips.
I don't want to add much height with a new seat. I'm 5'8", but have fairly long legs for my height. I've lowered my bike a little, and I'm pretty happy with the ride height that I have now.
What do you guys think?

I would have a local upolsterist (sp?) make what you want. It can be done for way less than a Corbin or Sargent. There are a lot of seat makers out of work now that the Chopper has died. Find who does motorcycle restoration work and they should be able to help you find someone locally.

Sargent seat for me, I did thousand of miles on my 04 with a Sargent.
You used to be able to send your stock seat to Sargent and have it custom made, I'm not sure if that is still available.
Sargent customized my 91 ST1100 seat by taking out the slope to the tank and moving the passenger hump back 1". That was an amazing improvment for me. I'm tall and it kept me from sliding down to the tank and gave me more fore / aft room also.

I went with DP seats on my '09. On a hot day when parked, make sure you cover it. the 'gel' soaks up the heat and makes for a real warm ride. Picked up the seats from this site. kw

Today I did my first ride with an Alaska Leather sheepskin seat cover. All I can say is wow! Very comfortable, no "hot" spots or numbness. I'm a believer. Once you go sheep you don't go back!

Airhawk period.
By far the best way to go. Customizable with air, moves from bike to bike, cheap compared to a seat and much larger audience if you want to sell.

If you're happy with the stock seat ergos but wnat more cushion and a bit mre grip, the DP seat is a good choice. It adds very little, if any, to the seat height. It is grippy enough to prevent unintended slippage, but not so grippy it makes moving around difficult. It is not super plush, but good enough for 2.5-3 hours in the saddle, which is about as long as I go between gas stops.

+1.... I bought a Airhawk and sheepskin cover from a fellow member and my ass thanked me. If I'm doing 100-150 miles I just sit on my DP gel seat. Anything more I put on the Airhawk and sheepskin.H2O wrote:Airhawk period.

Talk to Nick at Rich's Custom Seats.

They did my seat. I never even think about it anymore. Used to be a pain in the a$$ after about 45 minutes. No more. I don't know if height will be an issue - I told him not to worry about it (34" inseam here). Now my bike is not for the short of leg! I'm sure they can accomodate your height.
