If I'm riding primarily in town I can get as low as 40-45. Riding on the highway I've gotten around 65 (it was wet and I wasn't in a hurry). These are just estimates as I can't get a full tank of gas unless I go around the block after I fill up and top off.... That's another topic though.

I'm seeing exactly the same thing. I can go 180 Miles (American)ge360 wrote:ducatiRay, I think its the air bubble issue. The tanks for the 620 and 1000 are the same but ours don't have the breather valve at the back. So there's a gallon+ of space wasted back there. What happens after a short ride is that you've move the air bubble. High acceleration will force petro to the rear and the bubble up front. I haven't seen any real difference between side stand or upright when filling. And the rocking back and forth gets me about 3/10 of a gallon more, so normally I don't bother.
Any simple, low cost breather valve solutions would be greatly appreciated.

A fix would be good.

I'm going to have a dealer do the 12K service then I'll probably start doing them myself. So, when I hit 18-20K around New Years I'll work up a fix for this. (you know, while the tanks off) Till then I'll live with the light coming on at 140.mats620 wrote:A fix would be good.

190-210km (before light) on a "normal" fill-up. 260-275km if I drive around the block and put in another 3 litres after the bubble moves.
Took me about 5000km's to figure this out, but was actually quite happy to learn I could get an extra 60-80km out of a tank. Just had a Termi kit & Lucas flywheel installed, but with the fluctuations in gas prices, I have not had the oppertunity to drain a "Full" tank yet. So not sure how the mod's have affected gas milage.

I finally had a chance to test the bubble thing and even though I think it's stupid that I can't fill the tank all the way up the first time, I'm please to now have a bike with a 200+ mile range. And it only took me 3500 miles to figure out. I just shared the secret with a friend who has a 620 (and he only has 2500 miles). Maybe one day it'll be in the manual--it's too much of a stretch to think that Ducati might just put the breather valve in there.
Surely there must be a way to put some kind of valve in there.

55 mpg. Certainly less than that with a passenger. Actually sometimes I will get a better mpg than I would think because of how I ride it. I guess there are more variables than we realize. Also I weigh 240 and I'm 6'1"
so I would expect a smaller person to get somewhat better gas mileage.
One last comment is that I now have 3200 miles on mine and the gasoline mileage and performance is improving as more miles are piling on. I expect to have 6000 miles in March , it will be interesting to see if it runs even better than it does now!

Best wishes

It makes a huge difference. I've gotten 58 on the highway, but as little as 35 in the city (rush hour gridlock).Ferrell75002 wrote:WAIT!! Everybody here get atleast 50 miles to the Gallon??? I only get 80 miles total driving in the city. I can not believe that,WOW. Stop and Go burns alot of gas.

FWIW, my gas mileage went down after I put on a 14T sprocket. It's running higher rpm's at highway speeds. It probably doesn't help that highway speeds around here tend be be in the 80's.

Ok, so I had a bike with a 200+ mile range. Then I put that Techlusion TFi dohickey on. Now even with the bubble I only get 170 or so miles before the light comes on. Of course, I have more/better power now, so that's a good trade-off.

This new bike, with Termi kit - not so great in the fuel economy department. With predominantly highway riding, I haven't done better than 47mpg

I have the Leo Vince slip-ons, and ride mostly in the canyons. I get between 49 - 54 mpg. I wind up runnng mostly 4,000 to 6,000 RPM with a lot of on/off throttle. I filled up yesterday at 180 miles, and was able to get 3.3 gallons in the tank. I am very impressed with the mileage! At my 1000km service, the dealer told me the bike was running slightly rich and leaned it a bit - I was very surprised to hear this!

The problem is the vent system in the 620 tank. You can fill the bike, ride it a couple of miles and refill. It will usually take around 1.2 to 1.3 galloms on the second fillup.
Ther 620 has the same size tank as the 1000 and the 1100, but it is plastic, and Ducati chose not to put the elaborate vent system as used on the metal tanks in the larger Multi's. This all makes for a confusing mileage check.
I get between 50 and 60 on mine, depending on how aggressive I get with the throttle.

One thing to keep in mind with all of these comparisons (especially as they are all from the UK or USA) is that a UK / Canadian imperial gallon (4.5 litres) is 12% larger than a US gallon (4 litres) - which helps explain the seemly better mileage in the UK...
