I am finally ready to buy, and have found several new MS620 at various dealerships in my state. They say MSRP is $8500 and I've gotten quotes from $7300, to $7500 out the door. Now, I can buy a 2008 Jap bike (650 Versys or 650 V-Strom) for about $6700. Of course it isn't a Ducati, but coming up on 2008, a '06 MS620 is basically 2 model years old. And from what the dealerships told me the MS620 wasn't a popular bike to begin with. Therefore, I would think that they would be willing to do anything to get it off the sales floor.

My questions is this:

What is a very good deal for a NEW 2006 MS620? I've read on the site that some guys paid $6500 out the door. What do you guys think? Is $6500 good, or do you think I could do even better??

They seem scarcer in this part of the company and I paid a lot more than your target. Get the bike that's popular with you.

It's worth a million dollars. Yes, I know you're talking about a 620, and no, you can't do better

Oh, a better PRICE? Sure - but if you keep looking for a bargain for too long, you won't be able to get one for ANY price.

I got mine a few months ago for 7K out the door. However, it was emphasised that it was a one month opportunity Ducati offered to dealers to clear them out. True or hype? donno. The timing and their general behavior leads me to believe them.

Do understand one thing:
If I had payed another grand or two IT WOULD HAVE BEEN WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

uh.. that wasn't a 'shout' it is was 'youthful exhuberance' on the part of an old man. Pardon.

Consider yourself lucky. I'm only 1 state away and dealers won't go below $7999.

I've test ridden the Versys, V-strom, and 620. 620 wins on fun factor hands down. Tank size is much better on the other two bikes, if that matters to your riding style.

With the U.S. dollar dropping steadily against the euro, I would buy now before the prices start going up.

I bought mine in Massachusetts for $6,500 plus shipping down to Houston. My local dealer would not go below $7,800.
Keep looking before they ran out.

I don't know why I read these things. I want to like my dealer. Convenience and individuality come at a cost, but realizing that a custom paint job on a barely discounted bike amounts to nearly a 50% premium over what I wanted to begin with.... Ouch!

You shouldn't have to pay more than $6,500 plus tax, title, license for a leftover 2006 model.

Also, changes in the exchange rates have little to no effect on prices here in the US.

Back in the 1980's, I was looking at a VW Scirocco at a VW dealership. The Deutsche Mark had just dropped about 10% compared to the US dollar. Didn't lower the price of the Scirocco one cent. The price of future imports would not change, according to the dealer. Prices seem to be set by country, regardless of exchange rates.

Right now, a 2008 Triumph Daytona 675 retails for $8,995 in the US, but $11,995 CAN$ in Canada (I happened to be pricing them yesterday). A Canadian dollar is now worth more than a US dollar, so go figure. In the UK, of all places, the Daytona costs 7,200 pounds. That's over $14K US dollars! The manufacturers have to be price-competitive in every market, and for some reason (Jap bikes?) we get bikes very cheaply in the US.

Yet...
How far do you think the US dollar can drop against the euro or yen or whatever and still not affect bike prices?

Like "Dinola" I paid $7000 for my 620 during the fall get them out of here deal. They told me at the time that it was $800 less than what they paid for it, and that Ducati would make up the difference.
It will be a bike in high demand because of its size and all the things it does right.
My neighbor bought a Versys and the similarities are very apperant.
Now BMW is going to come out with a new twin cylinder 650 GS that is a chiked down F800 that will put out 71 HP, so a new class is being made that Ducati started.
And I wouldn't take $10,000 for mine. I just love it>

Sounds like a great deal. Only 120 miles? Was it a dealer's demo model? If not, there's a pathetic story in there somewhere.
Have fun!
